However, Camilla Parker Bowles’s blue and pink coat dress failed to impress the audience, making the future queen of England appear transparent and pasty. Fortunately, the former Duchess of Cornwall managed to survive the challenging day and change into a more fitting blue dress for the reception.
Princess Anne was dressed for the wrong party
As Anne, the Princess Royal, entered the area near Westminster Abbey, her appearance was so merry that she could have put many of the royalty looking on to shame. Her purple and green coat-dress, which had a sweet floral design, went really well with a colorful yet understated hat. Still, Anne’s overall style was too laid-back and bright for a cathedral wedding. Her outfit could have been perfectly worn at either Easter brunch or Ascot Hunt if only the Princess Royal had chosen a more neutral pattern.

Although Serena Armstrong-Jones is a noble and should have known better than that, she wore a white or off-white coat dress to a wedding for which it traditionally had been considered a debatable choice. After all, in a similar way, such a white dress might overshadow a bride’s white dress. However, Armstrong-Jones’s overly big coat just couldn’t compete with Kate’s stunning fashion.
Zara’s dress was ready for blast-off
Meanwhile, Zara’s dress would have done the job better if it were on a spaceship. Zara Phillips and her boyfriend, Michael Tindall, were getting married at the beginning of the next year. Being herself a bride-to-be, Zara walked to Westminster Abbey full of excitement, but her smile faded quickly as she saw the very bad choice she had made for her outfit. The cousin of the bride-to-be decided to wear a heavy silver satin dress, which made everyone look at her as if she had just landed from a space battle and was now competing in an intergalactic contest. The bride has a very beaded wedding dress, which will look better if made out of a lighter material to make her look braver, or black accents can be added for a better match with her stylish headpiece.
The Duchess of Luxembourg was not so grand
Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria-Therese of Luxembourg were among the foreign royals present at the royal marriage ceremony. Grand Duchess Theresa enchanted the wedding guests at the rehearsal dinner the night before, wearing a stunning red evening dress. Yet, Maria Therese looked less glamorous at the main event at Westminster Abbey, since the front tie of her coat and its large collar destroyed its overall appearance. The baby blue color of Therese’s wedding dress looked less flattering on her skin tone compared to the red one that she had on the day before.
Princess Eugenie needed a looser fit
Princess Eugenie Mountbatten-Windsor, the daughter of the youngest of the Duke of York, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, and Sarah Ferguson, almost succeeded in her plot. After all, she was one of the fashion-forward royals at the event. We are absolutely charmed by the bold use of blue and the modern elegance of Princess Eugenie’s gown. Nevertheless, the top of the dress appeared too narrow, making the princess unable to raise her arms. Besides, her skirt’s uneven bottom could be confusing, as well as the unsuitability of her gold shoes. Eugenie’s pretty fascinator, however, was perfect, although we needed her to tip that charming little topper above her forehead.
Princess Beatrice’s fascinator was fascinating
We should tip our hats to Princess Beatrice for getting the worst dress of the day, as we wanted her to tip her own. Her beige coat dress was a bit too light for her skin tone and was too buttoned up, but we could forgive the princess for that. The problem was that Princess Beatrice went for an oversized fascinator, which actually was not made for the occasion. Well, the princess with the funny headgear resembled an alien from the movie, and it was meant to attract lots of attention.
