Sydney Sweeney speaks out against hate after American Eagle ad controversy
After her American Eagle campaign was likened to “Nazi propaganda,” Sydney Sweeney said she is “against hate” in a very indirect way.
When asked about the incident by People, the actress of Euphoria, 28, said: “The reaction really caught me off guard. I would have never expected this kind of reaction.”
“The truth is I did it because I love the jeans and the brand. It is not my place to support the expressive view of a person when he or she chooses to link the campaign to that. I have been given a lot of accusations of which many have considered me as a person of hate and this is the thing that is farthest from the truth,” she explained.

In reference to the call for unity, Sydney Sweeney pointed out her desire to unite in these words: “So I really want this new year to be more focused on what unites us and not on what separates us.”
Just recently, the star of the show Anyone But You has been quoted as saying something which is in line with her very first reaction to the dispute over the denim campaign that happened more than a month ago.
When questioned about her reaction, she merely commented: “I was in a jean ad.” “The reaction certainly was a surprise. But it was … I love jeans!”

Sydney Sweeney reacts to American Eagle ad backlash and Trump’s support
During the controversy surrounding her American Eagle advertisement, Sydney Sweeney told that she found the support from ex-President Donald Trump as “surreal”.
The actress of Madame Web, after a backlash in which people accused the ad of promoting “Nazi propaganda” because it was playing with words “genes” and “jeans”, was targeted by the fans. In the ad, Sweeney with blue eyes and blond hair was saying that genes determine the traits like “hair color, personality and even eye color” and then she ended with “My jeans are blue”.
While the advertisement received criticism from fans and a couple of celebrities like Doja Cat and Lizzo, Trump on the other hand called it “fantastic” and seemed to be very happy to know that Sweeney is a registered Republican, thus he gave his approval.
