The actor, 37, was briefly detained before being released without bail and is scheduled to appear in court.
Nicholas Braun has just got into trouble with the law.
The Succession star was arrested on August 30 in Moultonborough, New Hampshire, after a police officer came upon him allegedly driving under the influence and subsequently detained him, said in a statement from the Moultonborough Police Department on September 2.
TMZ, the first media outlet to report the case, wrote that Braun was taken to jail in Carroll County, where he was held for about an hour without bail and then released. Due to technical problems with the cameras at the police station, it is reported that a mugshot was not made. The 37-year-old actor is expected to make his court appearance at another time.
E! News has made inquiries to the local police and Braun’s legal representative requesting a statement but no answer has been received yet.
A Look At His Private Life Recently
His incarceration is a follow-up to him revealing his love life just about half a year ago. Perks of Being a Wallflower lead actor, Braun, in March, marked the day of his lady Hyunji Ward by posting a pic of them on Instagram to attest to their love.
One of the images with the executive from TeaTime Pictures was captioned by Braun, “My sweet, sweet, darling of a girlfriend, happy birthday.” He also wrote, “You are the absolute joy of my life. You make me my best self.”
From Past Dating Struggles to Going Public
Despite Braun and Ward keeping their relationship under wraps, they have been out together a couple of times when their attendance at an Emmy Awards after-party last January and a Netflix event the following month were their only commonalties.
Unlike the actor who has been on record describing his dating challenges, Braun, in a 2021 interview with The Cut, acknowledged that he was prone to overthinking when it came to the possibility of new relationships.
“I don’t feel like I have any kind of power or leverage whatsoever,” he said at that time. “I am the one who is always trying to get something, be it a text back, a call back, or anything of the sort, but it never happens.”
Opening Up About Love and Commitment
The Sky High actor has in the past admitted that he has very limited relationship experience. In an interview with The New York Times in October 2021, Braun confessed that he had never really been in a long-term relationship.
“Honestly, I’ve never really been in a long-term relationship, not even once,” he said. “Yet I still crave it and at the same time I’m just not capable of it. I am going towards it and then I come to a point where I feel like, ‘I can’t continue any further, I have to take a different exit.’”
However, Braun still kept a positive attitude about the future. “I truly think that it will happen at the right time and with the right person,” he stated. “Until then, it’s nice to meet people and find out what clicks.”
Other Stars in the Spotlight
Brian Cox Reflects on Family, Love, and Life Beyond Logan Roy
On the show Succession, Brian Cox is recognized as Logan Roy—the ruthless and complicated media mogul and patriarch, however, Brian, 77, has a family story of his own off-screen.
Four are the kids of Cox: He got two kids – a son and daughter from the first marriage of 18 years to Caroline Burt – Alan, 53, and Margaret, 46; as well as a son and a daughter – Orson, 22, and Torin, 19 – with actress and theater director Nicole Ansari-Cox, his second wife.
Brian Cox in his 2021 memoir Putting the Rabbit in the Hat looked back and acknowledged that he got married too early. “When I got married to Caroline, I was just in my twenties,” he said. “Not good at all. But I wanted a marriage and kids for I wished stability. I wasn’t one of those middle-class actor-types, you know, who were on drugs and generally lived the life of excess.”
He now calls her his “soulmate.” She even made a short and meta appearance on Succession as Sally-Ann—the mistress from Logan’s second marriage—who memorably attended the character’s funeral.
Alan Ruck Balances On-Screen Delusions with Real-Life Devotion
In Succession, Alan Ruck is the one who introduces us to Connor Roy, Logan’s eldest son, a “poor little rich boy” who, out of the blue, decided to run for president and whose last marriage with Willa (Justine Lupe) seems to be a mixture of love and convenience.
On the contrary, Ruck’s personal life outside the set is marked with steadiness and long-lasting commitment. He is the father of two children, Emma and Sam, through his first marriage with Claudia Stefany. In addition, with his wife, The Killing actor Mireille Enos, whom he married in 2008, he shares the joy of fathering daughter Vesper and son Larkin.
Ruck and Enos had their first encounter during the production of a play in New York. Enos told People, “Alan walked in the door and my brain said, ‘Oh, there he is.’ It was a moment of recognition of some other person who was going to change my life.”
Jeremy Strong Finds Balance Between Intensity and Family Life
In Succession, Jeremy Strong’s character Kendall Roy was so deep into the feud with his father that he could hardly be seen as a father at some times. Nevertheless, the actor is really not like that which one can see from his quite grounded life. 45-year-old Strong has been married to Danish psychiatrist Emma Wall since 2016, and they are parents of three young daughters. They are the ones who alternate between New York and Denmark and are successful in managing the different requirements of their Hwood and family life abroad.
Although Strong is known for his deeply immersive acting style, Wall, however, recognizes his knack for turning off the actor when the moment calls for it. “He really manages to pull off the act of maintaining what he is doing,” she said in an interview with The New Yorker in 2021,” but at the same time he keeps a place for family and a normal life.”
Sarah Snook Continues to Enjoy Time with Her Loved Ones Away from Filming
In Succession, Siobhan “Shiv” Roy was a character always battling between her family and marriage as the story of both getting uprooted simultaneously seemed to mature.
Despite the fact that, Sarah Snook’s love life has been like sunshine. The Australian actress decided to marry comedian Dave Lawson, her long-time friend and partner, during the COVID-19 outbreak, a relationship that at a later stage, she described as a source of happiness. “I’m in bliss,” Snook told Australian Vogue in 2021. “There’s a lot of pain and sadness in the world, but on a very personal level, I’ve been really lucky.”
Snook has now turned 36 and is a mother as well. The story of her character in the show had to be changed to accommodate her real-life pregnancy and in May 2023 she and Lawson became parents to their first baby.
Matthew Macfadyen Balances Emmy Wins with Family Life
On Succession, Tom Wambsgans used his cunning to take control – by marrying Shiv Roy, navigating the disaster at Waystar RoyCo, and finally getting on top, albeit with his wife’s suggestion of non-monogamy the night of their wedding.
On the other hand, the life outside the set of Matthew Macfadyen has been very different, mainly tranquil and packed with happy moments. The 49-year-old British actor who took home the 2022 Emmy for Best Supporting Actor, has been the lovely Keeley Hawes, an actress, his wife since 2004. They share the pleasure of being the parents of a 19-year-old daughter Maggie and a 17-year-old son Ralph; thus, the actor is also the stepfather of Hawes’ eldest son, Miles, 23.
Talking about their love story – which became the headline of the tabloids and was a scandal when Hawes was married, Macfadyen said to The New York Times in 2023, “It was a bit bumpy at that time, but it’s fine now.”
Kieran Culkin Marks a Decade of Marriage Amid Roman Roy Comparisons
In Succession, Roman Roy had a complete breakdown when he tried to have a relationship of love and trust, but often his sharp humor was hiding a deeper emptiness with love and vulnerability.
Kellerman’s character Kieran Culkin seems to have escaped the sadness of his life because he got married to Jazz Charton. It was June 8, 2023, when the couple had their 10 years wedding anniversary. Besides, they have a daughter 4 years old, and a son 2 years old.
Like he usually does, Culkin with a jibe of the cutting humor that is typical of his character, first contact with Charton. Talking about their encounter at a bar in New York to The Hollywood Reporter, Culkin said, “I said, ‘I’m Kieran. You have an English accent. What’s your name?’ She said, ‘Jazz.’ I said, ‘J-A-Z-Z, like the music?’ And she said, ‘Yeah.’ And I said, ‘Well, that’s f—ing stupid.’”
Luckily, his Romanesque style got a chuckle rather than a grievance—and consequently, a wedding.
J. Smith-Cameron Successfully Balances an Acclaimed Career with Her Family Life
J. Smith-Cameron as Gerri Kellman, the general counsel, managed the Roy family business, but at the same same time she was (unintentionally) turning Roman Roy’s intimacy issues complex. Their on-screen interaction was one of the most discussed subplots of the show.
But off the set, there is a big difference between the two worlds. She and Kenneth Lonergan, a filmmaker, have been happily married since 2000 and are the proud parents of Nellie, their daughter, who is 22.
Nicholas Braun Gets Love After Searching for Long Time
In an interview with The New York Times, Nicholas Braun confessed that he had never been in a long-term relationship before, but he was optimistic about his love life. “I still believe it will be the right time and the right person,” he said, mentioning that he was creating a “relationship traumedy” while shooting Succession.
He is no longer waiting for love, it has found him. The 35-year-old actor was spotted out with film executive Hyunji Ward, and he expressed his emotions in a loving birthday tribute on Instagram earlier this year. “You are the absolute joy of my life,” Braun said in March 2025. “You make me my best self!!”
Jesse Armstrong: The Mastermind Behind Succession Lives a Quiet Life
Whereas Jesse Armstrong’s genius, witty brain was behind the creation of Succession’s ruthless environment, his own life is much more stable. According to The New Yorker report of 2021, the 52-year-old British writer-director has practically lived “in the same humble area of South London for almost 30 years” with his wife and their two kids.
Armstrong’s wife, who is a part of the National Health Service, and he, were both students at the University of Manchester. He always keeps a humble attitude despite getting 5 Emmys. “We might do a new kitchen,” he told the magazine, “So that will be corrupting.”
