Stacey Dooley Shared Her Experience of Pregnancy Loss
Stacey Dooley went into a panic when she admitted she had to be taken off to the emergency room for an ectopic pregnancy that she got with her boyfriend Kevin Clifton last year.
The 38-year-old TV presenter — who with the ex-Strictly Come Dancing star, 42, has a little girl, Minnie, now two — talked to her fans about the heartbreaking miscarriage during the latest episode of her show Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over.
During the episode, Stacey was Evan Smith’s guest. He had her visit Barrie Drewitt-Barlow, Britain’s first legally recognized gay father, and an advocate for commercial surrogacy. The latter underlined the significance of having “beautiful” kids.
Tearful Confession
On opening up her tears, the TV host, revealing her tears to the camera, said, “I have been through the hard struggle to have a child. Of course, we wanted to have more kids and I got pregnant last year, but it didn’t turn out well.”
She went on to say while breaking down: “It was ectopic, I wish I could be less sorry for this as it is so predictable. I am here crying on a bed. It was ectopic and it was really f**ing difficult.”*
An ectopic pregnancy is a condition that can lead to death, and it is the main cause of the death of the mother during the first trimester of pregnancy, which happens when the embryo starts to develop in the tube that leads to the uterus instead of the womb.
Emergency Surgery and Looking Ahead
As a result of her ectopic pregnancy, Stacey informed that she had an “internal rupture” and was in a state of emergency and needed surgical intervention.
“Naturally, when you experience such a thing you are compelled to consider other options,” she admitted. “S** happens and if you still want a big family you have to work out how it is going to be done.”*The TV show Strictly Come Dancing made the connection between Stacey and Kevin in 2018 for the first time. After a short time, they informed that they were dating and also that they were living together in Nottingham with their child, Minnie.
Filming in Nevada
Earlier this year, Stacey Dooley shared how she took her infant daughter with her when she was shooting a documentary at a brothel in Nevada.
In the newest series of Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over USA, she went to the Mustang Ranch — the oldest licensed brothel in the state — to dive into the lives and truths of sex workers in the US.
Balancing Motherhood and Work
During a recent interview, Stacey shared that her daughter Minnie was actually born when she was at the Mustang Ranch, and that “it sounds like a comedy sketch” was her way of joking about the whole thing.
She recounted the event while addressing the Hay Literary Festival in Wales, on a panel alongside journalist Emma Barnett, where she talked about the difficulties of balancing work and motherhood.
She went on to say that she is a mother who is very hands-on and that she has little Mina with her when she films, even if it is at some strange place.
“Nowhere That Child Hasn’t Been”
The Telegraph reports that Stacey confessed: “That child has been everywhere. In fact, when she was only eight months old we had this recording of a documentary in the States about a legal brothel in Nevada and we were going to the States.
‘I had sort of signed the deal and said: oh, she will be eight months old, that will be fine. So the time for the trip arrives and I am still not feeling comfortable with leaving her behind so I end up taking my eight-month-old daughter to the brothel in Nevada.’”
Minnie on the Road
“Not only did I have to get the sheriff’s permission to bring your mother down here, but since you are underage, your mother is going to have to look after you,” said Stacey with a laugh. “It really is the plot of a comedy sketch, but it is real!” she added.
Adding more details, she said that her ex-husband Kevin was going to keep Minnie in the trailer that she rented for the filming, so the little girl would usually be looking through the glass. Stacey remembered that upon her return to breastfeed, the sex workers at the brothel would salute Minnie with an energetic, “Morning Miss Minnie!”
