Sopranos Star Vincent Pastore Dead at 80

Vincent Pastore, who famously played “Big P—y” in HBO’s Sopranos, passed away. The news came via a joint statement by his agent Bob McGowan and manager Robert Attermann, who talked to E! News.

The 80-year-old Vincent Pastore has just been confirmed dead by his managers, Robert Attermann and Bob McGowan.Attermann stated in a memo that “I was blessed to be Vinny’s manager for over 30 years, even way prior to ‘The Sopranos’ getting him into the homes of millions.

The world will always hold him as that unforgettable character ‘Big P—y’ of course, but our friends and family knew more about him, saw him as a wonderful person.

According to Attermann, Pastore, who had a prominent presence in mob movies and shows, was “one of the sweetest, most selfless people I ever met, who was always kind and respectful towards all, not hesitating to give even a little to anyone who asked, like signing their pictures or autographing.

On his part, McGowan described Pastore’s death as heartbreaking while he added that he too had tears when the news came. According to McGowan, they found Pastore at his home in the Bronx last August 1.

Attermann stated that Pastore, who was separated and the father of Renee Pastore, the daughter of Nancy Berke, expired somewhere between July 31st and August 1st. We are yet to find out what killed him, though it is unlikely that there was a public statement on the cause of death.

Vincent Pastore’s Career Beyond ‘The Sopranos’

Vincent Pastore was not only a very talented Italian-American actor but one who took his characters very seriously. From Goodfellas (1990) to The Good Shepherd (2006), Vincent starred in around 70 different movies.

He was also a television star in such shows as “The Sopranos”, a 26-episode series of his that started around 1999. “

P—y” was Pastore’s big role, and he had played the part so convincingly that the role of the character is still referred to as “P—y” today. A turning point in the character’s arc came in the second season finale when he was revealed to be an informant.

Because of that, his death was by law enforcement in retaliation. That was certainly one of the highlights of the show’s dramatic crime storylines. The show was called as such because of the mob and its operations through the Italian-American lens.

Vincent Pastore Remembered for His Passion and Kindness

“He really enjoyed the process of acting,” Attermann told E! News in his statement.

“He was so in love with his job, and he never forgot to offer advice, show respect, or give encouragement to the young actors even if they didn’t ask for these. If he could, he would always find the time to help a young actor grow their craft.

“He will be greatly missed and will never be forgotten. May God rest his soul!” was the parting note of Attermann when he recalled the departed one’s life ‍ ‌‍ ‍‌story.
