‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’ Trailer Breakdown

Marvel and Disney are leaning hard and digging deep into their character roster to bring heroes to the screen and we finally got a glimpse into what is likely to be their biggest and longest show to date, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law which is set to premiere on August 17th.

The Obvious Connection to the Hulk

As briefly mentioned in the trailer, Jennifer Walters is Bruce Banner’s cousin who gained his Hulk powers following a blood transfusion. It is possible that this accident and subsequent transfusion will be shown during the series but Marvel does tend to gloss over origin stories at times. Bruce is also shown to become a mentor to Jennifer as he attempts to bring out her powers thanks to a series of deadly tests as well as showing her what she is capable of they are shown jumping at a unnamed location.

The Celebrity of She-Hulk

In the comics and seemingly in the series as well, Jennifer is able to retain her intelligence while in Hulk form and becomes comfortable in going out while as She-Hulk attending red carpet functions in glamorous dresses. She even has to deal with reporters who show up outside her apartment looking for an interview or a photo of She-Hulk. Jennifer even tries out dating as She-Hulk and in one of the trailer’s more memorable scenes, she is out when her date remarks that it has been one of the best he’s been on as the trailer cuts back to her apartment as she’s carrying this man into her bedroom.

The Balancing Act

Jennifer also has to contend with her day job as an attorney. The series seems to be setting up her career as the lead attorney of a major law firm that specializes in super powered humans. Whether she is prosecuting or defending these people remains unclear but it is implied that one of her clients will be Emil Blonsky aka Abomination who first appeared in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk and reappeared in Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. It is unknown what Blonsky has been up to in the years since his first appearance but hopefully that will be addressed during the series. It is also confirmed that Benedict Wong will be reprising his role of Wong for the series but is unknown if he will be an ally to She-Hulk or will continue on as Abomination’s fighting partner.

Possible Appearance of Other Heroes

After Charlie Cox’s surprise cameo as Matt Murdock/Daredevil in Spider-Man: No Way Home, speculation has been swirling on if more characters from the other Marvel Netflix series will be folded into the larger MCU. Cox is rumored to also be appearing in She-Hulk but it is also possible that Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones could make a cameo which would make sense as Jones is a private investigator who could be working with Walters on a case. With the recent announcement that Daredevil will be receiving a continuation on Disney+, Marvel is finally rewarded fans’ patience and expectations that the Netflix heroes will continue on in some form. It is also confirmed by Marvel President Kevin Feige that She-Hulk will also make future film appearances in the MCU but it is unknown which ones as no films beyond the current slate of Phase 4 films have not yet been announced.
