Sean Diddy Combs’ release date has been pushed back once again. According to the records of the Federal Bureau of Prisons, the Last Night rapper, 56, will not get out of prison until February 20, 2028, nearly a month after his most recent release date.
Not only was his sentence shortened to January 24, but it seems a recent altercation will also be the reason he will be delayed further.
Reported Prison Fight Led to Another Delay
According to TMZ, Combs was physically engaged with an inmate a few weeks ago after the latter had supposedly dissed him. Eventually, the prison guards stopped the fight, and the rapper was put in segregation.
This latest change to his departure plan is the sixth one since a New York jury found him guilty of moving prostitutes across state lines for drug-fueled sex parties. Just two months after this ruling was made public in July 2025, Combs’ team of lawyers started petitioning for mercy.
Diddy’s Legal Team Continues to Challenge His Sentence
Last month, a three-judge panel of the federal appeals court was involved in Combs’ case for a couple of hours and was presented with several arguments both the defence and prosecutors have made.
The music star & his lawyer, Alexandra Shapiro, first argued that Judge Arun Subramanian’s sentence not only disregarded the fact-finding phase of the trial but had resulted in a maximum sentence for Combs.
She mentioned that “These findings by the court actually overruled the verdict of the jury and have ultimately produced the sentence that was given as a result of a judge’s findings, which had the most impact on that sentence.
As the sentence given was the only thing that could be used to the advantage of the court. This also has a result where it is impossible to get an appeal on it in the court of the higher instance.”
Assistant U.S. Attorney Christy Slavik’s arguments defending the Combs’ sentence on grounds of being below the guideline for a federal judge were heard at the hearing.
Federal appeals judge William J. Nardini, who questioned if the severity of the offence did justify such a sentence, described the case as “exceptionally difficult”.
Sean Diddy Combs’s Conviction and Prison Sentence
In September 2024, Combs was arrested and charged with racketeering, sex trafficking, and transporting for prostitution.
Following six jurors’ hearing, it was the panel’s unanimous verdict of his innocence from some most serious charges. These were racketeering and sex trafficking that concerned the victim was his ex-girlfriend.
The case against Combs was mainly brought up on the basis of alleged misconduct which Cassie Ventura and a victim who identified herself by an alias, ‘Jane’, claimed to have witnessed.
However, they were unsuccessful in doing so in this particular case since Combs was convicted on a two-count charge of facilitating prostitution.
Later, he received a 50-month prison sentence and had to pay a substantial fine.
