Director Alexandria Stapleton, in an interview with Netflix Tudum, expressed the difficulty and the importance of making the movie, as it focused on the cultural significance of the lawsuit of Casandra Ventura during the #MeToo movement.
“The moment Cassie filed her lawsuit, I thought there were a million ways this story could unfold,” Stapleton recalled. “It made me question her bravery going up against a mogul like Sean Combs. From a filmmaker’s perspective, I immediately saw it was a cultural moment that tested whether we have evolved and are now able to handle such allegations in a just manner.”
In October 2025, Sean Combs was convicted of forcibly transporting women for drug and sex orgies and received a four-year prison sentence. The jury returned a verdict of two counts of which one was related to Casandra Ventura and the other to a new victim, ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌“Jane.”

“If I didn’t utter a word, it would be that you necessarily consider the hip-hop industry to be okay with his kind of behavior,” he said. “Nobody else is speaking out. So this would be a case of the so-called mind your business, or let me not say nothing, although we all know the truth, or those things would dominate the entire culture and it would be like they’re for that behavior just because of the silence.”
Even though he 50 cent was criticized, he still thinks that Combs would be glad to see the film. “He will tell me that this is the best documentary he’s seen in a long time,” Jackson said. “And probably, he may not feel that way about every single piece, but he knows the truth and I think he’ll see it ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌there.”
