Scheana Shay Is Ready to Tell All
Whenever something is talked about, it’s always Scheana Shay’s time and coming up now, she is in a mood of revealing her private life like she never did. During a recent interview with E! News on her new book My Good Side, the Vanderpump Rules actress confirmed that she’s going to be an open book about everything. She has disclosed that she will cover everything from her most scandalous celebrity dating snubs to the agonizing reality of her husband revealing his infidelity with another woman.
Scheana Shay remains one of the hottest TV stars on the TV circuit even fifteen years after her first appearance on the screen. Even when the return of Vanderpump Rules was announced and the main cast got a huge update in November last year, she is still a prominent fixture in the world of pop culture, aged forty or not. She was even seen in a lot of places, such as when she made a surprise appearance on The Masked Singer and went on to join the cast of The Valley, a Vanderpump spinoff while still continuing to run her popular Scheananigans podcast.
Sharing Full Details in Her Tell-All Memoir
Did you notice that her memoir “My Good Side” is a lot more in depth than anything she had done before as it was released on July 22? The book is said to be the candidest possible narrative of her life, starting from her hectic days in Vanderpump Rules and her breakup with Michael Shay, to her extremely personal battle with postpartum OCD following the birth of her and her husband’s Brock Davies’ daughter, whom they named Summer Moon in April 2021.
For Scheana, her most honest self is revealed in the book in an attempt to sell more; however, the primary goal is to build a relationship through it. “I like to break the stigma,” she said in an E! News interview about her “open book” philosophy. She thinks that by opening up to discussing “the scary things sometimes that go on in my head because when I say that out loud, other people are like, ‘Oh, my god, me too.'”
In other words, the her description in the manuscript of her private battle represents her self-disclosure. The passages where she reveals how she has been keeping her personal for a long time are far-reaching in the memoir. A passage in the book deals with the author’s undisclosed problem which she had from 2023 onwards, i. e. the hush-hush intimate relationship between Brock and some other woman.
Choosing Forgiveness and Finding Strength
The decision to include such a painful and personal experience wasn’t an easy one. Following her instinct, Scheana could not have been even a bit more anxious about the period during which she dealt with whether the story of Brock’s infidelity should be told or not. In the final end, she was driven by the force of nature that made her present this event in the book. She claimed ‘I would not be authentic if I did not write about this’. On Scheana’s part, not including it would translate into nothing else but covering ‘something huge and devastating that happened in my life’, and neglecting the story of how she was able to triumph over it. “I really thought that this was logically arguable,” she added.
At the time of tragedy, people would initially find the place where they feel the safest as a reaction. “Who doesn’t run away when they are in pain?” she wondered. But contrasting with the first reaction that she had, she found great power in herself to stay with the family and protect it: the little one, Summer.
For Scheana, this is the occasion to say that the real strength comes from Summer. “I am glad that she gave me a reason to fight,” Scheana said, adding that while their marriage has its flaws, she believes “Brock is the perfect person for me.”
It is remarkably different at this time – now, she feels gratified that the real saga of their journey gets the exposure. “Not only am I very happy that we can deal with it, but also, I feel empowered by the idea that my story will be relatable for others,” Scheana shared. She thinks that some people might get some kind of relief from hearing her experiences in such detail that might otherwise remain unnoticed, and to her, the message underneath is ‘that cheating is never okay, but it is not out of the question to sustain the relationship if both of you are ready to forgive and go out of their way’.
What is really amazing is that she was born and raised in California and has been a hustler all her life, who wrote a memoir about her life experiences—My Good Side. And by her words, it is self-evident that it is a story of her triumphs and failures which are innumerable and makes one’s spirits go up and down.
Smoke, Mirrors, and a Secret Marriage
It is quite possibly the best scenario ever that a 21-year-old Scheana Shay first met an older Eddie Cibrian while she was serving as a waitress at a Los Angeles cigar bar, as the whole affair turned out to be a cover-up. In her new memoir, My Good Side, she describes falling absolutely for him, saying he was “nothing but a caring, hilarious, and friendly guy who had always been at my good side.” Besides, he was used to not have a ring on his finger and as he was married to Brandi Glanville, that was obviously a very important fact. “I just thought he was a single guy,” Scheana wrote. She added that she was so ignorant of the situation that she “had not even got it into my head to take a look at him on the internet.”
So, their relationship became fixed and turned out to be what she called “a weekly booty call” that started in late 2006. Given the fact that at the time another person at the club mentioned it, she was still quite in disbelief. “I just did not want to believe it,” she stressed. Even in her thoughts, the affair was not so unclean. “We would go out all the time in public so for me, I wasn’t in any way a secret mistress!”
Having found out the truth, she decided she wanted nothing to do with him, however, when he later on reconnected with her six months later, she felt that she was being dragged back into the relationship. “He begged her to take him back,” she recalled, and in the course of apologizing, he also told her what she wanted to hear, “that he and Brandi were not together.” With this, they got along famously. He bought a lot of gifts for her and among them a pair of diamond earrings, he told her he loved her and not to mention an adventurous skiing trip to the mountains, which she thought “felt like a big step in our relationship.”
The bubble of the fairy tale burst into thin air in March 2009, when it emerged appearing of his affair with his new co-star, LeAnn Rimes, emblazoned on magazine covers. The situation was not only painful due to his unfaithfulness, but also because of the ghosting. “What is more, it pissed me off that Eddie didn’t dare come to a direct confrontation with me,” she shared. Yet, being the real Scheana, she took the news rather characteristically. “I moved on from that and I still never saw Eddie again.”
Scheana’s Journey Through Her Star-Studded Dating Life
In the midst of troubles with Eddie Cibrian, Scheana was involved with Jesse Metcalfe, a TV celeb of a completely different genre. Jesse is famously known as the gardener from Desperate Housewives. They had the time of their lives together, during which they did things that one would have expected from a fairy tale. Scheana relates stories of nights that started with eating with his parents and that were then changed to him playing the guitar to her. The songs he sang included “Hey There Delilah.” Talking about the time with the Entourage star, she commented, “It was fantastic. “I felt like I was in a romance with a guy I had seen on television and in films for years!” she elaborated.
Subsequently, she was also the “casual link” between John Mayer and her. Scheana, who was consistent with her idea to keep the relationship private, had a different plan of monitoring their progress without any influent from the public. Her friend’s accidental disclosure of her relationship with the famous singer was the exact moment when everything went wrong. “I have a friend who can’t keep a secret,” she said, and Mayer immediately decided to stay away from her, as he thought she had been the one that revealed their private details to the public. “He made sure to stay away from me as I was, for all he knew, the one who was telling the journalists the details of our get-togethers,” S. explained the situation.
It certainly seems that not even everything about Eddie, Jesse, and John could have covered the wider Scheana’s romantic past. In her manuscript, she lists the other famous male characters to an extent at which the readers are left with their eyes wide open in disbelief. She mentions actors Shemar Moore, Josh Hopkins, Shane West, Adrian Grenier, and even two actual guys from The Notebook. Then, she unwraps the music fraternity by including names of Jesse McCartney, JC Chasez, Will Tell, and slightly adds “and a few NFL, NBA, and MLB layers, among the rest.”
Scheana’s Early Introduction to the Reality of Reality TV
Scheana had her first on-screen reality television exposure without an acknowledgment on MTV’s The Hills back in 2009, long before she became a regular on Bravo. It was in the midst of the filming of the Hollywood club H.Wood, that a scene was shot and she was sitting when she saw Stacie Adams being accused of “homewrecker” by her friend Spencer Pratt for just a simple flirt. Besides, Scheana and another friend was called “whores” and “sluts” for the pictures-flash camera.
However, the real exposure came when the director stopped shooting. As Scheana tells in her book, none of the on-screen hostility was true. It was the show’s so-called villain, Heidi Montag, who came up to them with the car right after the show and assured. The veracity was confirmed by Heidi herself, who, the “mean girl MTV Heidi who was edited and packaged for the masses” was not there. Instead, Scheana recalls that she was “so sweet.” Heidi admitted the whole thing was just an act and didn’t forget to say, “Hey guys, sorry I had to be mean to you, it was all just for the show. You know that, right?”
The Ultimate Reality TV Setup
The credit for Scheana having learned the art of reality show hosting is clearly Lisa Vanderpump. The incident had Lisa assign Scheana to the launch party of her newly opened restaurant, SUR, which was taking place on a night that was being captured by a January 2012 episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
Lisa was keen on having her castmate from RHOBH, Brandi Glanville, at the event, as well. But still, Scheana says she had no idea that the intensity of the drama lurking around the corner. “I was not at all suspicious that a spin-off was about to be launched,” she alleged, mistakenly thinking that Lisa was set to stage a dramatic scene in order to launch Vanderpump Rules and, incidentally, “dimwit me in front of the entire nation.”
Lisa, according to Scheana’s side of the story, lead her to Brandi, and the latter was eating at the time. Photographed by local journalists with mariachi instruments, the infectious sounds and Lisa’s act of how she acted during that incident were a clear idea of what she did. Indeed the course of the whole event was as expected but disaster struck when Brandi pointed out that her trashy husband once slept with Scheana.
Then, according to Scheana, during the most recent VPR casting changes, she was discussing the show’s origin with a show producer when the truth “accidentally” came out. The producer reminisced about the time when “Lisa was not certain whether the sweet Disney girl who was connected to Eddie wasn’t going to be a part.” For Scheana, it was the aha moment of her life. “So, they were talking about me in front of my face,” she spilled. It was the last clue that she had always been right in her belief: “that Lisa already was in the know about my affair with Eddie. And she used it as the beginning of VPR.”
A Wedding Night Marred by Drugs
It was a love story that was supposed to be a happy ending, but for Scheana Shay, the dream became a nightmare just as it came to life. In less than two years after getting married to her old-time friend Michael Shay, she was requesting a divorce in front of the camera, feeling very tired of not only his addiction to Adderall but also the fact that he had had emotional affairs while she was not aware of it.
In the memoir, she concedes that the first signs pointing to the issue were visible before they were married when her wedding night became the pivotal moment when her heart was broken. “It breaks my heart to say that my own wedding night was, at the same time, the time I started questioning his habit.” She had made a simple demand that he should not drink at their reception. Her request was met when he decided not to drink.
However, one day in the future, the illusion finally showed itself after spending their happy day with the party in the casita they had rented. “I even registered that his eyes were almost entirely glazed and he moved unsteadily,” is how she described the event. They had not known the whole truth until their colleague, Tom Sandoval, unknowingly admitted the fact, weeks after, in a conversation. He stated that “he even offered us these little blue pills, which he said were Ecstasy.”
Although Scheana turned down the offer at once, she was shocked to observe Shay’s reaction. She said, “Shay displayed a puzzled look and answered, ‘Wait, that one looks just like the pill you gave me at the wedding. I thought it was Adderall.'” Later, they both realized the truth at the same time… “Ooh, what a bombshell we dropped.” He did not intend to get high during his wedding; in Shay’s words, he, by all means, just ingested an Adderall to stay awake and celebrate longer—a huge realization that revealed the seriousness of his pill dependence.
The Humiliating Sting of a Reality TV Demotion
You’d think that after presenting the public with seven seasons of uninterrupted entertainment, Sheena would be assured her position is firm on Vanderpump Rules. Before she went live on Watch What Happens Live, she found out she was going to be demoted to a “friend of” the cast and the news left her with a big bruise on her ego. It was not the right moment at all.
The details she got from host Andy Cohen revealed that she felt terrible as she remembered ‘I was crying like a baby’, though the hustle and bustle of the live broadcast wouldn’t wait for her to get over it. Cohen did not mince words, he denied his feelings by only giving the look which spoke a thousand words, before he said, “Listen, we are minutes from going live. I demand you to put yourself together, make a fantastic program and prove everyone that you still have your place on the show.”
Remarkably before the 10th season, she received the same call that she was afraid of the most. Nevertheless, Sheana regards the second event in a different way, in her opinion, the demotion was rooted in a matter associated with her husband, Brock Davies. She accuses that the audience’s disrespect toward his past was the main reason behind the demotion, since it involved an episode where he admitted to slapping his ex-wife, as well as the breakdown of the relationship with his kids, Eli and Winter.
The message from production was clear, as Scheana explained it: Brock was welcome to be a part of the collective scenes, “but they just wouldn’t give him call times.” To Scheana, it was without meaning but at the same time offensive. To present it harshly, “It felt like a total f–k-you.”
A Victim of The Edit Bay
Scheana has stuck to the belief for a long time that the Vanderpump Rules producers did not only document drama—they actually produced it, mostly for her expense. She was totally on top of the world when, after the firing, a former editor, Bri Dellinger, confessed that she deliberately selected Scheana’s “most cringeworthy moments” and connected them together. For Scheana, this was the final confirmation of her belief.
She singled out the most malicious and cunning case when she was the one narrating, i.e., Stassi Schroeder’s engagement party. Scheana insists she was given explicit instructions from producers to go and talk to Stassi’s then-15-year-old brother, Nikolai. She swears the chat with him was very much to the point and more of a teaser for a younger brother like, “Well, I… was just teasing him… knowing nothing about it,” she told. “I was joking about what boys his age do like school, sports, and maybe even girls,” she said.
However, when the program was eventually broadcast, she was really ashamed by the way she was depicted. She affirms that the edited version was distorted to a point where it looks as if “I was flirting with Nikolai.” Her anger and horror were unmistakable. “I was shocked; he was fifteen.”
A Baffling relation and a peculiar Love Triangle
Once in 2019 at the Stagecoach Music Festival, Scheana who identified a new acquaintance “DD” and she was the one they were talking about, found DD quite interesting. “We got on so well,” she confessed. At that time they shared the love for Sam Hunt, and their bond quickly grew in L.A. Scheana recollects one night at TomTom, where, through the sipping of drinks and having a great time, unspoken feelings initiated and thus kissed.
Their relation was characterized by the one that was strange yet entertaining, despite all the confusion. “It was now these kind of things that came out of nowhere, i.e., we were both drunk, kissed, and then went around telling everyone that we were dating,” explained Scheana. She admitted that her entire situation had driven her to utter confusion and all her relationships were now under scrutiny. Was she bisexual? Was she just alone and men are no longer her interest? Or was that woman more than one thing to her and if so, what did she mean to her? The sentiment, she reckoned, was quite different from friendship; however, at the same time, it wasn’t adequate enough for confessing or obligating to a connection. She admitted that she was afraid to talk about the way her family and the VPR public would perceive her confession and her sexual orientation because they were so conservative. She was hindered by the fear of reactions and even more so by the fear of being dumped from embracing what she and DD might have been as a couple. “I wish I had told my feelings to DD in part,” she reflected, “but for me the fear of being rejected was a more powerful reason to say anything than to know what we could have been.”
Their situation reset to a great extent in September, when they met Brock Davies, at a music festival. In fact, DD is the woman Brock hit on first, while according to Scheana, “they just did not find each other engaging.” Like this, their friendship was ruined, there was now a possibility for him to win her over, soon after which it did.
Coming back from a very fun trip to both Australia and Bali in November, they were totally in love. The matter with DD, however, was not settled and exploded while they were out with the three of them. “She just like it was earlier, she kissed me,” Scheana reminisced. The reply of Brock was abrupt and clear. He made an ultimatum for her, “I am your boyfriend now. You cannot do that kind of stuff. If you had a relationship with him, then it ends now or I am out of here.
Suffering and Joy of Birth
Scheana’s journey to becoming a mother was a major rollercoaster ride of extremely happy moments and of devastating times. Just a few months after the tragic miscarriage in October 2020, Scheana announced that she was pregnant with her and Brock’s rainbow baby, a little girl who they had already given the name Summer Moon Honey Davies. The later stages of her pregnancy were quite a delightful change for her, actually.. Scheana joked, while they were not actually trying, “we can say Brock is not very fast.”
However, when her delivery turned into a horror, she found herself in a state of panic. Scheana was given the medication that started her birth only nine days before the filming of season 9. After about 15 hours of being in labor, her body went into crisis. She not only had an increase in her blood pressure up to very dangerous levels but she also felt extremely guilty. “But in the midst of my selfish act of birthing a baby to be filmed for a TV show, the baby’s heart rate was decreasing. I wrote that,” she admitted.
It was not before long that she learned that she had suffered from HELLP syndrome, which turned out to be a severe and life-threatening complication of preeclampsia. The induction of labor, which she had planned in accordance with the show’s schedule, was precisely what saved her life. “”Honestly, it was like the biggest miracle that I was in labor,” she exclaimed. “Just think if I decided to have a vaginal delivery, didn’t pay attention to my symptoms and as a result, my preeclampsia would not have been noticed, there I would have been a stroke patient, and I would have kicked the bucket.”
Her sorrow did not stop with this. When Summer was eventually delivered, she was “limp and blue,” an alarming but regular occurrence whenever the mothers are given magnesium infusions during labor. It took several months, but Scheana found out that she had been suffering from severe postpartum OCD. She revealed the details of the onset and the symptoms which she herself perceived as being strange and unexpected. A noteworthy example is her compulsion for numerous years to be followed by precisely 420 people on Instagram. Also, she was struck by a paralyzing fear when she thought about going with Summer to Disneyland all alone.
She persisted in undertaking therapy for the trauma that nobody could see. It’s a challenge that just won’t end, and still, she manages to keep her spirits high. According to Scheana, “I still practise various exposure therapies to conquer my fears and become a better person.”
Crafting Chaos for the Cameras
Not only did they hold up their glasses to the occasion, but the crafters of the reality “mis-en-scene” were indeed absolutely brilliant in their endeavour. The season nine, which was held at the top of the beautiful Santa Ynez Valley in California for James Kennedy and Raquel Leviss’ engagement party, could have seen a different kind of drama only that it would be playful. “Also, we planned to have a secret wedding with Brock,” Scheana said, “while being there.” The singer, who already had the large wedding with Shay, kept saying, “my focus was on marrying Brock.”
However, in addition to the marriage, one thing created by Scheana became a desire to have a tenth season. After abandoning the idea of fleeing to avoid stealing the thunder of the bride, Scheana found that none of her attempts was working. “We were all under a lot of pressure to produce an explosive finale,” Scheana explained, “and we knew all of our jobs were kind of on the line if we didn’t deliver.”
Thus, when faced with a no drama—it means no job situation, the only solution is to make fistfights, of course. The girls like Scheana, Madix, and Maloney devised and then moved swiftly to execute the plan in a covert but effective manner. The person who will convey the news to James and Raquel that Scheana was coming over with a wedding was Lala. ” And as a result of this bombshell, drama would ensue and hopefully guarantee another season,” Scheana admitted. The result? “Job security, check!”
The aftermath of the termination of the employment belonging to the comedians and social agents who participated in this successful scene and the veil is that the situation became a reality after the instant without the completion of the whole episode. “I drove back to the hotel with Brock and Lala by the same car,” Scheana disclosed. bitterness. Even after the loud altercation and blaming, the spokesmen of the two groups were “together in the same car, as if they had never argued.”
Setting the Record Straight on the Infamous “Punch”
On the day Scandoval became a word in everyone’s vocabulary, Scheana Shay was in the very middle of it. The night erupted into chaos at a New York City bar in March 2023 after a press day when Scheana met one of her friends. . The call made by Rachel was because Tom’s then-girlfriend, Ariana was taken out by other friends, and she was made on a speakerphone call where this was going on. Scheana did not understand anything just asked, and when she was told the truth, her gesture to pick up the phone from the ground had been taken as consent. Rachel seemed not to have intended to cause such a frenzy, but when Scheana was provoked during their altercation, Rachel quickly realized that it was not her fault only. After the first shove, the mobile phone was taken away from Rachel by Scheana who then vigorously shoved her twice away from her. . The now-irate Scheana called Ariana from her hotel room and described the previous scenario – “I pushed that b–ch and threw her phone in the street,” she said. The one thing lost on her was that Tom, who overheard the conversation, misunderstood a very critical part. He was of the view that the word punch had been mentioned, not realizing it to be false. No matter how much the lie was denied by Scheana, the matter kept getting worse: “I know that emotions were high and there was a lot of tension, but I did not punch Raquel.”
According to Scheana, Rachel used her version of the story when the latter one became the victimized. Rachel’s recollection of events is such that she claims a police report and a temporary restraining order (which was eventually dropped) she did not assault her. She says, “I didn’t mean for my TRO to become permanent, it was just a method to create calmness after the punching and I was not interested in implementing the permanent RO.”
A Life-Shattering Public Outburst and an Unimaginable Decision
As if the current affairs of Scandoval were not bitter enough, it seems that an inner circle tale that was way more heartfelt for Scheana was still underway. At a time when rumors were flying that Brock had been with Rachel, he decided to take the bull by the horns by confessing that he had done something way more personal. The man decided to brush off his shoulders something heavy and in March 2023, he revealed to Scheana about one of the episodes that had become a town’s talk. He told her that it was “best that I heard it directly from him” while she was sleeping.
The cover-up was so severe that he was ready to take any measures to shield it. Later, it turned out that he admitted to have slept with an ex during the time of his wife’s pregnancy with Summer. He stated that he decided to do so, as Scheana figured, mainly because he feared being a father once again. This revelation was the reason for Scheana’s burst of anger. “The fire of my anger had no bounds,” she said very explicitly, “I hit him on the shoulder and aimed a Rubik’s cube at his head; he, of course, knew how to avoid it.” The event was characterized by the bitterest feelings of pain and love.
When her fury changed to sorrow and anger to become the dominant of her senses, Scheana once again had to fight her way through an impossible choice. She was very open in her memoir, saying she couldn’t have married Brock if she had just had some spoken words from him and that she was totally different from who she was now. She was also keen to remind everyone that without the existence of their daughter, Summer, her “reaction would have been very different.”
“A situation surfaced in which I had to make up my mind,” Scheana explained. She had two choices to pick from: “Option A: I could abandon Brock and we could call it quits as a family, I wouldn’t have to deal with the headache of the hatred, but I would throw away our lives in the process.” Or, to escape this challenge from its very grasp she had to “Option B: I could start forgiving at that point and I could let go of the anger and move ahead.”
The Scandal and Unpleasant Event in “Good As Gold”
It could be a catchy tune that went viral and became the absolute anthem of Bravo television, now. Scheana’s single hit “Good As Gold,” which had once been a go-to sound for multiple occasions in the reality show Vanderpump Rules, has even gone so far as to being an ad soundtrack for Uber Eats on a national scale. But the real score is the song has been giving her nothing but headaches regarding her money.
Strangely, Scheana confesses that her signature song has not brought her any money at all. “I have yet to make a single dollar from ‘Good As Gold’ except from the vinyl sales,” she mentioned. The cause was a typical example of conning by a young artist unaware of the industry. Her then-manager, personal lawyer to the manager himself, was the one who did this disservice to her.
“Now I can only see it as wise to share a lawyer with someone who manages you and I feel that at that time I was just not aware of the situation,” detailed Scheana on the poor choice of the lawyer she made back then. She overly trusted him and never doubted when he came with a pack of papers and affirmed that “it’s all standard.”
However, the “standard” set of documents included one that legally gave away her song rights to the manager, and she was unaware of it. And the situation becomes even more bitter for her when she says that she does not have any record or file of the papers she signed. “All my efforts during these years to free my creations or receive the initial contract have been to no effect,” she told. With the exposure of the grand tale of deceit, there is hope that she ends it by saying, maybe even the public becomes a part and it could be changed now.
