Salma Hayek Turns 60 With Skinny-Dipping Photos: ‘60 and Grateful’. One of Salma Hayek’s birthday celebrations is sure to create a memorable lasting image.
Hayek has done it a very stylish way: she nakedly got into and swam at a lake with just the water around, while also documenting that moment for her social media followers.
Celebrating her 60th birthday on September 2, Salma Hayek put out two images on September 7 through Instagram of her being in water.
In one, she is lying in the shallow ocean with the waves covering parts of her body. Another photo shows her from behind as she enjoys the water.
Her caption was short: “60 and grateful.”
And really, what more was there to say?
Hayek has never seemed particularly interested in acting like getting older is something she needs to apologize for.
Her recent birthday celebrations, as captured in her latest posts, are certainly a show-off moment and they are also totally in line with her image lately.
To be seen and to be in the spot light, she is quite comfortable doing so even at the age of 60.

Salma Hayek Didn’t Exactly Have a Quiet 60th Birthday
Social and media events, private festivities at home, a trip or travel to celebrate the big 60s and so many options are available to a famous person.
A fancy dinner. A huge party. A magazine cover. Maybe a glamorous red-carpet appearance. Hayek went swimming naked. That probably wasn’t going to go unnoticed.
The photos also stood out because they weren’t trying too hard. There was no complicated birthday message attached to them. Hayek didn’t write a long paragraph about how she had learned to love herself after turning 60.
She posted the photographs and simply stated that she was thankful for having them. This may be a simplistic emotion, but it expresses a lot.Even today, women in Hollywood continue to be evaluated to a large extent by their looks and their bodies.
This stress does not cease to be present when someone becomes famous. If anything, the situation might become worse as more public scrutiny is faced, and the actresses get older.
However, Hayek keeps on doing so.She was in her fifties when it occurred (age fifty-eight), but still she was the cover star of *Sports Illustrated Swimsuit* in 2025. Not only did she share the bikini photos around her 59th birthday the previous year.
In addition, Hayek’s recent photos were a result of what has already happened before.
Salma Hayek Has Been Open About Getting Older
Salma Hayek does not keep her thoughts about getting older private and is pretty vocal on the topic from time to time and even shared her feelings about menopause as well as the effects aging has on her body and lifestyle.
That makes the “60 and grateful” caption feel especially fitting.
She isn’t pretending that turning 60 means nothing has changed. She is simply refusing to treat the number as a reason to hide.
And that is probably why the photos have attracted so much attention.
There is always a conversation around celebrities and aging. People want to know what they use, what they have had done, how they stay fit and whether they look “good for their age.”
The very expression can be weird. Should a woman of 60 still worry about her looks only *for her age*?
Hayek’s photos can’t really resolve these issues but they provide an outlet to divert one’s focus: a lady looking contented with the situation while, instead of trying very hard to please others, she is, in fact, having fun.

Gwyneth Paltrow Took a Different Approach at 50
Hayek is just one example of a celebrity who uses an aging moment as an opportunity to showcase a new look with her body.
To Gwyneth Paltrow it was 2022 when she completed 50 and to express herself, she posed wearing gold paint while naked.
It was glamorous, carefully photographed and very much a Hollywood-style birthday picture.
Hayek’s photos have a completely different feel. There is no gold paint or elaborate set. She is just in the water.
It really isn’t the case that one is superior or better to the other. The pair of celebrities merely decided to commemorate their significant birthdays in a very stylish manner.
Plus, these photos sent a message that women should not have to be less confident about their bodies as they age.
Vera Wang at 76 Still Turning Heads
Vera Wang has never seemed too worried about dressing according to someone else’s idea of what is “appropriate” for her age. At 76, the fashion designer is still wearing the kind of outfits that get people talking.
Wang once again made a daring style statement at the 2026 Fragrance Foundation Awards held in New York City on June 11. Besides her presence, but she also wore one of her creations which, by the way, was her original design.
The design was so elegant that her top was a black cone-shaped bra-style piece that matched almost perfectly with her floor-length drop-waist skirt. The skirt had cutouts details around the waist and was tight at the hips while black pants underneath made the look more layered. she added some really big sunglasses along with low pigtails and light-colored gloves.
At the event, Wang was 76 years old. She turned 77 later that month, on June 27.
The outfit was certainly revealing, but that has never seemed to stop Wang from having fun with fashion. She has continued to wear crop tops, sheer pieces and other daring looks well into her 70s.
And perhaps that is the point. Wang doesn’t appear interested in following a rulebook that says women have to become more conservative with every birthday. At 76, she is still dressing the way she wants—and people are still looking.

Hollywood Still Has a Double Standard
Now, the conversation gets quite exciting when you consider that there is a big gender bias in Hollywood.
If we take Tom Cruise as an example, he was still playing the role of Ethan Hunt who was doing big action stunts in movie “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” that released in 2025.
Tom Cruise was 62 when the movie was released.
Nobody watching the film was asking whether he was “too old” to run around, climb buildings or perform dangerous stunts. His role was supposed to resemble Tom Cruise and act likewise as Tom Cruise.
Women on the big screen are usually given lesser freedom to grow old.
Even now, actresses are frequently criticized concerning the appearance of their wrinkles, weight, hair, their bodies in general and the question of if they are still too young or too old looking to play the certain part.
That is part of why Hayek’s birthday post has struck a nerve. She is not hiding from the number.

At 60, Salma Hayek Seems Happy to Be Herself
No doubt, only sharing one picture on Instagram is not going to make a difference Hollywood-wise. Women body commentaries and queries regarding actresses’ beauty regimens will keep going as normal, even if not instigated by people in general.
But Hayek doesn’t need one birthday post to fix all of that. She simply turned 60, went into the ocean, took a couple of pictures and told her followers she was grateful.
There is something nice about leaving it at that. Salma Hayek is 60. She looks happy. She is still working, still appearing in public and still clearly comfortable in her own skin.
Moreover, those pictures clearly demonstrate that she was determined to throw a birthday celebration without letting other people’s comments or expectations affect her and whether someone else thought she was behaving appropriately for her age.
Good for her.
