How to Own a Celebrity-Inspired Engagement Ring on a Tighter Budget?

Many people are inspired by most celebrity engagement rings but often shy away from trying to get something similar for themselves. The bigger the diamond, the higher the price will be. However, having a celebrity-inspired engagement ring doesn’t mean you have to have a celebrity-style budget. How?  The solution to your tight budget is lab-grown diamonds.

Are Lab-grown Diamonds Real?

Lab-grown diamonds are also known as man-made diamonds or lab-created diamonds. These diamonds are created in the laboratory by using very sophisticated technology. The High Pressure, High-Temperature (HPHT) method and Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) method are widely known to make lab-grown diamonds. Lab-grown diamonds have the same optical, chemical and physical properties as natural diamonds. Therefore, lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds.

Difference Between Lab-grown Diamonds and Natural Diamonds

Lab-grown diamond engagement rings are becoming a thing among the American populace.  One of the things driving people’s attention toward lab-grown diamond rings is that they are significantly more affordable than natural diamonds. Being less expensive doesn’t make lab-created diamonds sparkle less than natural diamonds. Yes, you heard right. Lab-grown diamonds and natural diamonds have the same qualities. The only difference you can claim is that one is formed deep beneath the earth’s crusts while one is formed in the laboratory.

How much does a lab-grown diamond cost?

You may wonder how significant the price differences are. Here’s an example. If you’re familiar with diamonds and other types of jewelry, you’d know they’re weighed in carats. The carat of a diamond is one of the key factors affecting the stone’s value.

From 0.5 carat to 4 or 5 carats, the price difference can be staggering. Lab-grown diamonds weighing 0.5-carat can go for about 2,000 USD. When you compare that to the price of a 0.5-carat natural diamond, the price difference is up to 4000 USD. That’s pretty huge. If you take another example of the difference in price between a lab-grown 2-carat diamond and a natural diamond weighing 2 carats, it’s more than 20,000 USD. It’s obvious that lab-grown diamonds will save you a lot of money, and your lab-grown diamond is the same as a natural one.

How to Make a One-of-a-kind Engagement Ring?

Some companies offer a super unique custom option for lab-grown diamonds that can be grown from the carbon found in your and/or your partner’s hair. This is an extraordinary way to enclose the meaning and value of your love story in the engagement ring.

The principle behind this ‘magic’ process is that the major component of both natural and lab-grown diamonds is carbon, and manufacturers have been able to create diamonds with the carbon extracted from hair. Hair contains about 44% carbon which makes it an ideal material to make lab-grown diamonds.

Imagine your engagement ring made from your hair and/or your partner’s hair, how cool that will be? If you are keen on this idea, finding a trusted jewelry brand to create and design your engagement ring is the next step. An American bridal jewelry brand Sunny Eden™ is a pioneer in this industry. They are specializing in making diamonds from hair carbon in the US. Not only do they offer various options of creating the precious diamond for your important day, but also highly customization service. They have a professional design team to create a 3D model for your idea and you can participate in the whole design process.

A New Trend among Celebrities: Sustainable Jewelry with Lab-Grown Diamonds

Celebrities are also not oblivious to the rising popularity of lab-grown diamonds, and a few of them have been spotted wearing lab-grown diamonds to big events.

  • In 2018 at the People’s Choice Awards, Camila Mendes was making hand gestures throughout her interview on the red carpet. You couldn’t help but notice she was wearing on her right hand, the “American Beauty” a 5-carat lab-grown pink diamond set on a 14-carat gold band.
  • Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, attended up to seven events in January 2019 and there was an event she attended in London and accessorized her outfit with a pair of lab-grown diamond earrings.
  • Steve Irwin’s daughter, Bindi Irwin got engaged to her longtime boyfriend Chandler Powell in July 2019, and the conservationist’s ring paid homage to her history of environmental work. It features a lab-grown diamond and is made with rose gold recycled metal.
  • To go along with his sleeveless gold feathered shirt and long skirt,  Billy Porter wore a lab-grown diamond collar necklace to compliment his outfit at the 2020 Oscars. An outfit his stylist claims was inspired by the royals at Kensington palace. To be frank he did look inspired by royalty and was one of the most talked about on the red carpet.

Other celebrities who have been seen wearing lab-grown diamonds include Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Zendaya, Emma Watson, Jennifer Hudson, Lana Condor, Regina King, Jennifer Lopez, Kate Mara, and Deepika Padukone.

It’s Time to Have Yours

It’s obvious that lab-grown diamonds are gradually becoming the new trend among celebrities and the good news is, they (lab-grown diamonds) are not exclusive to celebrities.

Getting the right engagement ring can be a hassle, especially when choosing from already-made designs. You and your partner can end up getting confused or overwhelmed when you have to choose from a whole lot of options. Lab-grown diamonds are a breath of fresh air from all the stress of trying to make a perfect choice. You can easily design the kind of jewelry you want from scratch and give it to a lab-grown diamond company to help you bring your design to life. What’s even better is that you get the ring of your choice at a budget-friendly price. Lab-grown diamonds are the new cool and it’s best to hop on the train.
