South Mountain

What you need to know

South Mountain Village, sometimes just referred to as South Phoenix to locals, is bordered by the Salt River to the north and South Mountain Park to the south.  This area is rapidly being developed with many new restaurants and stores being added every year.  However, there is not a lot to be found for nightlife or large-scale entertainment which can often make this area appealing for families.  The South Mountain Preserve is arguably one of the best hiking, running, and cycling areas in metro Phoenix consisting of 16,000 acres of recreation space. South Mountain Village is certainly up and coming and worth a visit.
