Passport to Freedom Season 2 Plot
The show’s official synopsis states that “Brazil’s Deputy Consul João Guimarães Rosa arrives in Hamburg on the eve of World War II to meet Aracy De Carvalho, a consulate clerk who’s secretly smuggling Jews out of Nazi Germany.”
Aracy redoubles her attempts to get visas to Brazil after the killing of a German ambassador in Paris, which sparks a campaign of violence against Jews in Hamburg. As Nazis imprison Jews, João must convince Aracy that he is committed to helping her rescue operations.
Zumkle investigates corrupt authorities in Hamburg and suspects João of illegally selling Brazilian visas. Colonel Zumkle tries to sever Aracy’s relationship with João while she works to assist immigrants fleeing Germany. Zumkle intensifies his attempts to relocate João from Hamburg after the resistance attempted to murder a high-ranking Nazi.
Faced with the Nazis’ restriction on Jewish emigration, Aracy reluctantly asks Zumkle to assist her in getting a pair of youngsters out of the country before it’s too late. As time runs out, Aracy and João race to aid Jews fleeing the Holocaust.
