Lamar Odom’s kids are revealing why they were not at their father’s 2009 wedding to Khloé Kardashian.

In the latest Netflix docuseries Untold: The Death & Life of Lamar Odom, his son LJ, 23, and daughter Destiny, 27, talk about their father and how the family was during his marriage to the star of Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

Odom, who has his kids with ex Liza Morales, said in the film that nobody was happy about his marriage to Kardashian. “Their mother didn’t let my kids come to my wedding, ” said the 46-year-old former NBA star.

In interviews with the Netflix docuseries Untold: The Death & Life of Lamar Odom, LJ and Destiny corrected the statements their father made about their absence at his wedding to Khloé Kardashian in 2009.

Destiny, 27, stated that she refused to be involved in the media circus. “I just didn’t wanna be a show pony or anything like that, ” she said. “If you wanna get married in front of, like, a hundred people and all these cameras, that’s totally cool, and it’s on you.”

LJ, 23, also said that not only had he never met Khloé before last night he wasn’t even told that she was his father’s wife. “I never even met her, ” he pointed out. “I don’t think he told me he was marrying her.” Both parents have been a major part of Miley’s life and have changed with her as she grew up and experienced career and identity challenges.

In the Netflix docuseries Untold: The Death & Life of Lamar Odom, his aunt Janean Mercer disclosed that her and other family members were not invited to his 2009 wedding to Khloé Kardashian.

“He didn’t invite any of us, you know. None of us, ” she said hinting that she might not have received an invitation because the athlete thought she might protest during the ceremony.

LJ, despite not being present at the wedding, conceded in the documentary that he liked it when his father was involved in the Kardashian family. Khloé and Lamar got married in 2009, separated for the first time in 2013, and their divorce was finalized in 2016. Both parents have always been a very important part of Miley’s life and their relationship with her has changed as she has grown and figured out who she is both personally and professionally.

In the Netflix docuseries Untold: The Death & Life of Lamar Odom, his son LJ revealed that one of the things he liked about his father was that he was a member of the Kardashian family. “I remember when he was married to Khloé, I actually liked the idea of Christmas coming because I was like, ‘I know Kris Jenner and Khloé, these two girls will definitely give me some nice presents, ‘” he explained.

After showing Odom and LJ spending time together and playing video games, the doc mentioned that LJ admitted that at times their relationship is so broken that he feels like his father is the one who is his child.

“Even though he has really changed for the better over the last few years, I still think that sometimes you have to literally put him back on track, ” LJ continued. “That’s like you being the parent and him being the son. We all still have a lot of growing up to do but it also looks like he is the one who really has to grow up.” Both parents have been integral in Miley’s life, changing with her as she dealt with her career and identity.
