For months, Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker were waiting nervously for something to go wrong in Rocky’s life, as they feared that the baby boy might not make it.

It is the moment when they will find out the real reasons why the doctors recommended that the pregnant woman get fetal surgery after her son stopped breathing and that the lungs were getting filled with ‍fluid.

“I was touring; I was actually in Europe,” Barker, 50, shared in his Hulu documentary Travis Barker: Louder Than Fear, explaining how he had received a phone call from Kardashian about the diagnosis.

“She says, ‘Trav, I went to my doctor and the baby’s lungs are filling with fluid.'”

According to the Blink-182 drummer, treatment required surgery in which doctors “drained the fluid from his lungs by placing a needle through her stomach.”

“It was terrifying going in for the surgery,” Kardashian, 47, added. “He canceled four shows, and he just came and lay with me in the hospital and made sure that everything was OK.”

And Barker was especially concerned for Kardashian and their baby’s health. As he put it, “Once you’ve experienced a miscarriage, you’re just waiting for something awful to happen.”

Indeed, the couple’s journey to baby Rocky was not an easy path. Kardashian was pregnant six months into her relationship with Barker, but was informed that their baby girl, whom they planned to name Tulip, no longer had a heartbeat during a first-trimester appointment.

“When we lost the baby, we were devastated,” Kardashian recalled in the documentary. “We just lay in bed and cried for days. All we wanted was to have a baby together.”

Kardashian ‍eventually tried IVF, the whole thing with it taking her quite 5 shots in about 8 months.

But, honestly, physically and emotionally things were really bad for her.”It felt like my body was shutting down,” she said.

“After so many attempts, the disappointment of it all was really, really messing with me mentally. Travis recalls that she told him while crying, ‘I can’t do this anymore.’

Rocky’s Birth Was a Miracle for the Couple

In a way they were not expecting, the final result was that they did get pregnant naturally and gave birth to their baby, Rocky, on November 1, 2023.

“It’s a miracle,” said Barker, whose firstborns are his daughter Atiana de la Hoya, 27, and sons Landon Bakker, 22, and Alabama, 20, born from an earlier relationship with Shanna ‍Moakler.

“He’s the healthiest, happiest little human I’ve ever ‍ ‌‍ ‍‌met.” Kardashian added, “Having Rocky gives him another chance to do what he loves most and does best: being a father.”
