Meri Brown says family fights held up the sale of Coyote Pass property in Sister Wives
Before Kody Brown could sell the 14-acre Coyote Pass land that he had co-owned with his wife Robyn Brown and his ex-wives Meri, Janelle, and Christine Brown, there were complications.
The Flagstaff, Arizona property had been divided into separate parcels that were individually owned by the family members, but getting the correct names on the deeds was quite challenging.
Meri told on the Nov. 16 episode of Sister Wives, “There was a lot of talk about it and I really don’t know why it couldn’t just have been signed.”
Kody, father of 18, said the sale would have taken place if not for the delay in finalizing the paperwork for the four equal owners. He also mentioned, “We slowed down immensely on the actual signing… there were too many things that had to be agreed upon, and we were going back and forth through lawyers.”
Meri Brown alleges Kody and Robyn pressured her to sign confidentiality agreement amid property sale dispute
Meri Brown was blaming and accusing others for the delay in selling the Coyote Pass property. She revealed that she was so troubled when she was requested to sign a confidentiality agreement that she refused.
“He’s making it look like I’m the one who slowed everything down and that I am the problem,” Meri shouted in anger. “But it was about them trying to get me to sign a confidentiality agreement that I was not willing to. Why are you asking me to sign a confidentiality agreement? Why are you trying to silence me?”
Kody Brown did not say anything about the NDA but confessed to having some talks with his second wife, Janelle. He said, “After we accepted the offer, Janelle was thinking that the buyer would change his mind and leave us… I was in this position where it was like a backdoor deal with Janelle.”
Janelle Brown reminisces about the sale of the property causing tensions and wonders if NDA might affect Meri
Janelle Brown confessed that during the Coyote Pass sale quarrel she didn’t entirely shut off Kody from her.
“Kody said, ‘Well, I could sell it without Meri’s consent,’” Janelle remembered. “And I respond, ‘Well, you could.’ So, he definitely could. He could sell it.”
In case Kody had gone ahead with the sale and used the confidentiality agreement, Meri would have been kept in total darkness.
“It f–king breaks my heart that it has come to this,” Janelle told. “I didn’t think that those people would do this to me. Like, was there not any parts of us that were human?”
Kody Brown reflects on Robyn’s reaction and his path to change amid family disputes
Kody Brown revealed that his wife Robyn faced him with the truth when he was secretly making plans during the Coyote Pass property sale.
“She looks at me like ‘Who are you? You’re the man whom I met and fell in love with. Robyn is the one giving it to him straight. Anyway, if one of his wives left him, he’d be buying her a house down the street so that his kids would still be close to him. And you’d be so kind with her. Where are you?'” Kody remembered.
He continued, “Nothing like the woman you love making you say to yourself, ‘Well, it’s time for me to become a better man.'”
Kody indicated that this point in time was his turning point and the start of his journey to change dramatically.
Robyn Brown declines to back down in her property sale conflict, relationship with Meri worsens
Robyn Brown recounted how she felt when she found out about Kody’s secret deal from the sale of Coyote Pass:
“I was like, ‘This is bulls–t. No, I’m not going anywhere. I’m not doing nothing. I’m not selling this land until everything is perfectly fair and we do this the right way. Sorry. I’ll be the big fat rock in the way.’”
Robyn’s friendship with Meri, a former best friend, has been declining despite her advocacy for justice.
Meri said, “I feel like if Robyn and I were to be friends again, that would be the very beginning. Because she is loyal to Kody, as she should be. I am not. And we’d have to have some really hard conversations. There is no trust between me and Robyn. There isn’t.”
