Kid Cudi Admits He “Hated” Testifying In Diddy’s Trial

Kid Cudi’s Testimony Against Diddy

In May, Kid Cudi gave his testimony in court against Diddy as a part of a federal trial, where he went into great detail and made statements under oath. Back then, he was very open about his love affair with Cassie, who was an ex-girlfriend of the Bad Boy Records founder. Besides that, he remembered being threatened in such a way that he thought the threats came from Diddy. Moreover, Kid Cudi shared the event when a Molotov cocktail was thrown at his car, and he was on fire, implying that the music mogul may have staged the violent attack on him. After that, when he was a guest on the Call Her Daddy podcast, he confessed that the whole court process was very tough, but he was very clear that the decision of testifying was the right one.

His Emotional Reasoning for Testifying

Kid Cudi openly expressed his dissatisfaction with the incident, stating, “It’s like I was only there out of necessity,” and at the same time emphasizing, “I hated every single minute of it.” Later, he revealed a little more about the reason why he went along with it: “I’ve always really wanted to see [Cassie] flourish and do well and be happy because I knew she was going through a bad time.”, it was through standing by her in this difficult time that he found some peace with himself. As he made it clear, “My role was to be there for her, support her, and help her through it.” That’s what kind of gave me peace with it when I sat down in that chair.”

Kid Cudi’s Interview Reflections on Testifying

This week, Kid Cudi also spoke about his court experience during an interview on CBS Mornings. At the time, he clearly shared, “I knew I was helping Cassie. It was just my intention to support her, I really wanted to give her a hand, with more confidence, he went on, “I know I did the right thing, so that’s the only thing that matters.” Kudi talked about the antagonistic reactions that a part of Diddy’s fan base had towards him after his declaration.

He reminisced, “There were quite a few people that were on my side, but a couple of them had something to say about it,” giving his point of view here: “What made it peculiar was that I am not from the streets.” I don’t live by no code, you know? So I guess it’s because I’m a rapper. People just threw that on me. But, like, my music has never been about that, and I have never tried to pretend I was about that.”

Diddy’s Final Trial Verdict and Penalty

Meanwhile, Diddy’s federal trial concluded last month following roughly two months of proceedings and multiple other testimonies. Eventually, he was acquitted by the jury of sex trafficking and racketeering offenses in the end. On the other hand, a verdict of guilt for transportation for prostitution was returned. Diddy is now sentenced to jail for a maximum of 20 years due to this charge.
