Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald Are Parents to Their Sixth Child, a Boy Named Edward
Jessa (Duggar) Seewald and her spouse, Ben Seewald, have once again made their home a baby heaven. Not long after revealing that they were expecting in March of 2025, the couple has been blessed with their sixth child, a baby boy whom they have named Edward, on the 26th of July, 2025.
The ex-Counting On stars have always been very open about their plan to have a big family. “We both want to have a big family,” Jessa said to People a little while before their 2014 wedding.
From the birth of their sons Spurgeon (November 2015) and Henry (February 2017), the couple has been blessed with daughter Ivy in May 2019. After experiencing a pregnancy loss in 2020, their daughter Fern was born in July 2021. Following another pregnancy loss in 2022, Jessa delivered their fifth child, son George, and now with the arrival of baby Edward.
Spurgeon Elliot Seewald, 10
Jessa and Ben Seewald first child, Spurgeon Elliot, on November 5, 2015, was born, almost exactly one year after their first wedding anniversary. The couple’s son, Spurgeon, came into this world in their home Arkansas after a hard 48-hour labor.
“Labor is hard,” Jessa said to People shortly before the release of the magazine describing it as “very intense” and “very long,” and she also mentioned that they had 10 hours of contractions. “I don’t know how to explain it but everything was different than what I had imagined,” the young lady confessed.
After giving birth, Jessa was given blood at the hospital but after that, she was able to go home soon. Looking at her baby, she thought, “It’s like he is not just a dream we had but he really is!” She also called him “a miracle.”
Spurgeon Seewald: A Powerful Name and a Reflective Character
Jessa and Ben Seewald were not in a hurry when they were deciding on the name for their first child. At the end of the day, they named him Spurgeon Elliot to pay tribute to the great British preacher Charles Spurgeon, who was one of the sources of inspiration for Ben. “We want to give him a strong name, with a lot of meaning,” Jessa told People at the time.
Now that Spurgeon is 10 years of age, he has developed into a warm and caring elder sibling. Jessa on the Duggar Family blog, referred to him as a “creative” and “thoughtful” kid who likes books and playing imaginatively.
“He is a kind, little guy, full of chatter, trying always to keep us laughing by the humorous things he says,” Jessa wrote. She also emphasized his good manners, stating that he is “considerate with his words—thanking people when they do things for him and complimenting if he thinks someone’s clothes look nice.”
Henry Wilberforce Seewald, 9
The day after the birth of their first child, less than 15 months later, Jessa and Ben Seewald become parents to a little brother for their firstborn boy, Henry Wilberforce, who was born at home just like their first child, but the whole experience that time round was a lot easier as Jessa told it.
“Of course, labor is labor, but we were very calm and it was really relaxed,” Jessa explained to People magazine. “Ben and I were kind of shocked at how quick it went.” The delivery was so fast that Jessa’s mom, Michelle Duggar, and her sister, Jana, came in just as she was delivering the baby.
Jessa, who was familiar with the life of a big family, reveled the biggest obstacle in raising two toddlers at the same time. In the 2017 episode of Counting On, she said, “I feel there is no day that is exactly the same. Sometimes everything is just very, very simple… And at other times, it gets a bit more hectic.”

Jessa Duggar Shares Touching Moments of Her Sons Spurgeon and Henry
Jessa Duggar shared the story of her eldest son, Spurgeon, becoming a big brother to their second son, Henry. During an interview with PEOPLE, she disclosed, “We thought it was going to be super cute, but he just didn’t really know what to make of it. He actually thought Henry was a toy.” Ben chimed in that Spurgeon at first “had no idea that being soft meant being gentle.”
On the Duggar Family blog, Jessa paints a picture of Henry as a little one who is “very determined, a little wild and always on the go” with a keen sense for what is good and what is bad. Along with singing and reading, he loves cuddling with his parents.
To mark Henry’s sixth birthday, Jessa described him as “our little sunshine at home!” She admired his passion for books and Lego building as well as his sweet, loving attitude towards his baby sister Ivy. “He’s a nice mix of both tender and brave, loving and full of laughter,” she commented.
Ivy Jane Seewald, 6
On May 26, 2019, Jessa and Ben Seewald became parents for the first time to a daughter and third time to a child altogether, Ivy Jane.
The couple told people, “She is very small in comparison to the other kids!”
They also continued, “She is already very loved. Her brothers are crazy about her!”
Waiting to decide on the names of their sons, Jessa and Ben had actually picked Ivy for their daughter even before the birth. “Ivy Jane, we just liked those two names,” Ben stated in a TLC video right after the birth of their baby.
Ben added, “We liked how those names went together.”
Further, he opened up about the importance of her middle name: “Jane, with her middle name, she is actually named after Lady Jane Grey,” thus referring to one of the queens with the shortest reigns in England. “In fact, she was a character who really inspired us.”
Ivy Jane Seewald: A Love-filled Surprise to the Family
Jessa and Ben Seewald’s hearts were full when they finally welcomed their daughter after two sons. “I definitely shed some tears,” Jessa revealed. Ben also conveyed how the moment felt for him, “It was such a special moment when I held little Ivy for the first time. I was kind of soaking it all in.” He even reflected about the future, “Wow, I could be walking her down the aisle someday.”
It seems that Ivy’s older brothers, Spurgeon and Henry, have a lot in common with their little sister, as they are also very much into her. Jessa revealed on the Duggar Family blog, “She really adores her older brothers, and they are really at her beck and call.”
Besides that, Jessa also mentioned some of the unique traits that make Ivy who she is: gorgeous blue eyes and an impressive vocabulary, to name just a couple. In fact, she’s “a tiny human packed with so much personality!”
Fern Elliana Seewald, 4
Jessa shared in February 2021 that she and Ben were going to have a fourth child after they had a miscarriage the year before.
Jessa and Ben’s daughter, Fern Elliana, arrived on July 19, 2021.
Jessa and Ben decided not to have the baby at home like the other three kids, but Fern came into the world in a hospital.
Jessa revealed in a YouTube video that they changed the plan because of her “history” and that even though she was nervous about it, she thought it was the best decision.
“I’ve had three home births, three great home births, good experiences, no complications with the birth itself, but I have had postpartum hemorrhage two times,” she shared.
Jessa mentioned that despite missing the “comfort of home,” she is glad that this time she will have an option of getting an epidural.
Fern Seewald: An Extra Smile and Thrilled Big Sister
On a YouTube video, Jessa revealed that they had difficulty coming up with the name Fern. “I feel like once you have more kids, you’ve basically used up all the favorites,” she explained, pointing out that her naming preferences were often different from one pregnancy to another.
Jessa portrays Fern as a lovely, happy child. “She is probably one of the most cheerful babies you will ever see!” she exclaimed in a write-up on the Duggar Family blog. Fern is a “smiling baby” who “barely ever cries,” and her “older brothers and sisters are totally loving her, going out of their way to bring her toys or keep her entertained,” Jessa also said in the same post.
Speaking of the new baby, in a December 2023 YouTube video, Jessa mentioned that Fern was so excited about her upcoming role as a big sister. “She is always telling me how much she is looking forward to having a baby around,” Jessa stated. “She tells everyone that Mommy has a baby inside her, she kisses my belly, and then she says, ‘I want to hold the baby.’”
George Augustine Seewald, 2
In September 2023, Jessa declared on social media that she was going to have her fifth baby after a miscarriage in 2022. A month later, she gave an update on her pregnancy on Instagram, posting, “Each heartbeat that we get to hear, each ultrasound picture, each doctor’s appointment with a nice report … the worries go away a little more. I LOVE YOU SO, SO MUCH, my little one #rainbowbaby.”
Jessa disclosed in a later post that George Augustine Seewald his son was born on December 19, 2023. She made a video on YouTube of his birth. At the same time, she posted a lovely video of her four children meeting their baby brother for the first time in the hospital.
“You just cannot imagine how full a parent’s heart gets. At the same moment, you see your older kids cuddling the newborn baby, and your heart just gets so full that you want to cry, right?,” Jessa said. “It is the most beautiful thing to see.”
Edward Owen Seewald: Jessa and Ben’s Sixth Child
Jessa made the news in March 2025 that she and Ben were expecting their sixth child. She posted sonogram pictures on Instagram with a caption that read, “Can’t wait to have you in our arms! We are halfway there!”
Jessa disclosed in August 2025 that the baby had arrived a few days earlier during the first part of her birth vlog on YouTube, and at that point, she hadn’t revealed the baby’s sex or name.
Later in a vlog, she disclosed that their little one was a boy named Edward Owen. She further shared that after being discharged from the hospital, they took a while to find a perfect name for their son.
Later on, she shared a picture of baby Edward on Instagram and revealed his birthdate as July 26. “We have fallen head over heels in love with this little man!” she added.
