Salt Lake City, UT – The key factors that impact global warming include construction practices worldwide, as well as the types and uses of building materials. In order to achieve the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) CO2 emissions reduction targets for 2030 and net zero CO2 emissions by 2050, the building sector will play a central role. To discuss the possibilities, a seminar was conducted in Salt Lake City, UT, and James Nivette was a keynote speaker.

Being part of the construction industry for more than two decades, James Nivette has a strong understanding of the role the construction sector is required to play to achieve the targets set by the UN. James Nivette’s career has always been centered on creativity, planning, and design, but his heart has always been focused on environmentally-friendly architectural designs built using sustainable building materials. He talked about the importance of focusing on sustainable construction, which entails environmentally-friendly structures that are energy efficient and have smaller or even net zero carbon footprints.

“At JN Architectural Firm, we focus on designing and constructing green buildings that reduce or eliminate negative impacts on our climate and natural environment. In order to control carbon emissions and preserve precious natural resources, everyone needs to play their part so that our quality of life can improve.”  ~ James Nivette (Jim Nivette).

In order to make buildings green, as per the World Green Building Council, James Nivette discussed two of the most important characteristics which make a building ‘green’. He focused on the efficient use of energy and other resources and on creating designs that enable adaptation to a changing environment easier and more practical. The construction sector is shifting to use more and more sustainable materials that are non-toxic and ethical. Good indoor environmental air quality can also be achieved by designing, constructing, and operating green buildings that contribute to a cleaner and greener environment with increased energy efficiency and less wastage and provide a better quality of life for occupants.
