Hugh Jackman Recalls an Unfortunate Onstage Moment
Hugh Jackman is bringing back to memory an unfortunate moment of his career that makes one laugh.
On his recent appearance on SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show, Jackman, 57, was in stitches when it seemed that the host of the show had done his homework thoroughly. “Didn’t you piss your pants,” asked Stern, 71, “on stage?”
“Morning, everybody!” said Jackman in a humorous way, thus confirming that the incident took place during his early career when he was playing Gaston in a stage production of Beauty and the Beast. After a naturopath had given him the diagnosis that he was dehydrated, he decided to prepare for an early show by drinking “two gallons” of water all at once.
“You can see what is going on,” the Song Sung Blue star went on explaining. During the first song of Gaston while he was grabbing the actress playing Belle “a little bit of piss came out. I am in red tights. I thought, ‘uh-oh.’”

Hugh Jackman Shared That It Was His Decision — Either To Sing The Note Or “Piss My Pants”
When he was explaining the intense moment of the song, Jackman said, “I was faced with a decision: the way I see it, you have got to sing that F. Either I do it and piss my pants or I don’t do it and humiliate myself. So, I decided to sing it. And [the urination] was just going.”
He remembered that he “turned upstage” after finishing the song to hide the stain. “I am laughing to myself thinking my boot is filled with piss, both boots filled with piss. And thus, I am somehow still on stage, 1500 people, ‘Well, I’m getting away with this.’”
However, his Beauty and the Beast dresser, was not fooled. “She’s staring at my crotch. And as I look down while walking off, it’s totally wet. So in those three minutes after the song, it had gone through.”
Jackman ended by saying, “After that, no one thing can embarrass you.”
Hugh Jackman Praises Song Sung Blue in Stern Interview
It was not only a Jackman wetting his pants show but therapy, industry awards and working with the Golden Globe-nominated Kate Hudson were also discussed by Jackman in his interview with Stern. One is the movie Song Sung Blue, director Craig Brewer’s biopic about Milwaukee, Wisconsin’s Mike and Claire Sardina, who in the 1980s formed Neil Diamond tribute band Lightning and Thunder, in which Jackman and Hudson are the two costars.
“I really consider it one of my best,” Jackman told Stern of the biopic. “And to be honest, when I see the film and see my performance, I say to myself, ‘That is probably one of my best works.’”
