How to Keep your Bedding Fresh and Crisp?

Love sleeping on fresh hotel bedding? Do you want your bed linens to stay crisp and white for longer? To make them look brand new, all you have to do is to follow these easy steps mentioned below.

  • Wash sheets once every week

The linens can easily get dirty in a short period of time due to the transfer of skin cells, body oils, sweat, dust mites, and bacteria onto the sheets. So, it has been recommended that washing sheets once a week are quite needed and useful to maintain the linen’s softness and durability,

  • Do not use fabric softener

Most detergents sold in supermarkets are designed to be gentle on textiles and are close to neutral. Commercial detergents with a high pH for a harsher clean are also available, but they will destroy the soft fibers in towels and cause the fabric to break down much faster than a neutral pH detergent. But, at first, it is recommended to avoid the usage of detergents.

  • Avoid wash cycle overloading

Do not try to stuff your washing machine with all of your linens. Sheets need space to circulate so they get clean properly. Also, read the label in order to change the temperature and cleaning cycle accordingly. Choose the maximum temperature recommended as more germs are killed in hotter water, which should be around 60C.

  • Use starch

If you like that smooth and crisp feeling, wash your sheets with starch properly.

  • Store sheets in a cool and dry place

After you’re done washing the hotel comforters or other bedding, make sure the storage is cool and dry. This helps the sheet fabric from yellowing. You should also avoid storing the bed linen in plastic containers, which can trap dampness and promote the growth of mildew.

Steps to Easily Whiten Your Sheets

To get those crisp, white sheets even with the appropriate ingredients, it’s important to apply the right whitening agents in the right order. Follow these steps for more efficient results.

1. Pre-soak

Make sure to use warm water for at least an hour to pre-soak your white sheets.

2. First Cycle

You have a variety of whitening options once you’re going to begin the first cycle. However, avoid using fabric softener if you’re using a whitener in this cycle because vinegar or lemon juice can alone do the trick.

3. Second Cycle

After the first cycle, if you still smell or see buildup, consider rinsing with hydrogen peroxide and running a second cycle without detergent. Hydrogen peroxide is safe to use on all washable, dye-stable fabrics and breaks down safely in the water. At this point, you can also use diluted liquid bluing.

4. Dry

If possible, another fantastic technique to keep your linens crisp and white is to air-dry them outside in the sun. The sun has natural bleaching agents and won’t set any stains like a dryer.
