According to PEOPLE, Blanchard was the one to send a birthday text to Urker earlier that day before she also received no response. What began as a simple message would result in the heartbreaking passing of the 34-year-old. Urker was said to be found dead inside his home in Raceland, Louisiana.
The exact time between when Blanchard sent the message and Urker’s subsequent discovery is not said. However, officials confirmed that they were summoned to a residence in Raceland around 6:15 p.m. on October 1.
Urker was found dead by law enforcement officials when they arrived, according to a statement made by the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s Brother Reportedly Found Ken Urker
Dylan Blanchard, Gypsy’s brother, along with his wife, was said to have visited Urker’s residence after he failed to answer the birthday text. They planned to take him out to dinner; however, they instead ended up finding him unresponsive inside the house.
The death of Urker was later revealed via a TikTok live stream by his sister Autumn. She also confirmed that the last words he ever spoke to her were, “I love you.”

The tragedy of the situation is further compounded by the fact that Urker died on what was supposed to be his 34th birthday. Initial reports of his passing did cause an amount of confusion about his age, as some listed him as 33 years old. However, the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office identified him as being 34, with PEOPLE also confirming that he died on the day of his birthday.
The passing of Urker was also seen to have gained significant online attention due to his relationship with Blanchard. However, the reality is that the family has lost out due to his death, as Urker is said to have a young daughter who has not yet even reached her second birthday.
Authorities Are Still Investigating His Death
The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office has also confirmed that the death investigation for Urker is still ongoing. “We responded to a residence in Raceland today after receiving a call at 6:15 p.m.,” said the department, according to The U.S. Sun. “Kenan Urker, 34, was found dead upon arrival. At this time, we are continuing the death investigation.”
Blanchard has confirmed that Urker died as a result of an overdose, telling PEOPLE that she is unsure if it was intentional. The cause or manner of death has yet to be officially stated by authorities; however, until the death investigation is concluded and any necessary toxicology tests are complete, Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s claims should not necessarily be seen as official medical confirmation.
So far, there has been no indication of foul play, and law enforcement has not yet named any arrests or criminal charges to go along with Urker’s passing.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard Speaks Out After Ken Urker’s Death
Gypsy Rose Blanchard has finally spoken publicly on Ken Urker’s death, discussing how she has struggled to come to terms with his passing.
In an interview with PEOPLE, she has confirmed that she believes that he suffered from a drug overdose, though she is unsure whether it was an intentional act, stating she has no doubt that Urker was not in a good place in his mental health recently
“He was not in a good state of mind lately,” Blanchard told PEOPLE when talking about the sudden loss.
The reality star has described herself as “in disbelief” after news of Urker’s passing, finding it hard to think straight in the wake of the news.
It was particularly hard news to process for Blanchard, as Urker not only happened to be her longtime boyfriend, but the husband to their daughter, Aurora. He was an amazing father and deeply missed by those around him, Blanchard described.
Deputies from the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office have not yet identified the cause of death as an overdose and are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death, said the office.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard Says Ken Urker Faced Online Harassment
In addition to speaking out on a potential cause of death, Blanchard has spoken out on how Urker suffered from online attention and harassment during their time together
Urker faced an “unimaginable level of public scrutiny” and “relentless cyberbullying” on sites such as TikTok and Reddit, according to Blanchard
She stated she believes the online harassment had a big negative effect on Urker, as she felt the weight of it had a “profound effect” on him, though she did not give evidence as to what impact on his mental health could lead to an intentional overdose
Her comments add another layer of tragedy to the situation, as Urker had been connected to Blanchard’s high-profile life for many years. The pair began their relationship after Blanchard was imprisoned, drawing attention from those both online and offline. Attention which continued throughout their reunion and subsequent engagement.
She spoke out regarding others remembering Urker, asking people to remember he was a real person who deserved to be treated as such. Blanchard also wanted their daughter to be able to grow up learning who her father was, not the perceptions of strangers who have written about him online.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard Calls Ken Urker Her Greatest Love Story
One day after Urker’s passing, Blanchard paid tribute to him on Instagram, speaking out about how much he meant to her and remembering the relationship they had together.
The couple’s photos and video footage have been shared alongside a series of captions. In the post, she described Urker as her “greatest love story”, claiming he would “always be my greatest love story”.
“You will always be my greatest love story,” she wrote about him in the tribute, describing him as someone she would remember and be loved by forever.
Blanchard returned to the message she had made about Urker’s relationship with their daughter, Aurora, describing her as a beautiful version of him.
She was confident she would be able to ensure that Aurora knows who her father was for her, and not the opinions of strangers on the internet.
The tribute came as Blanchard has asked for privacy for herself, Aurora and both families while they cope with the sudden loss of Blanchard and Urker’s relationship.
Ken Urker’s Sister Reveals His Final Words
Urker’s sister, Autumn, has also spoken about him in the wake of his passing. During a TikTok livestream with the intention of discussing her brother, she has revealed what his final words to her were.
According to reports of the livestream, Autumn stated she had spoken to Urker before his death, telling him she was going to call him again after an initial conversation. She described how he told her he was going home to sleep as he had work the following day. His final words to his sister were, “I love you.”
Autumn said that Dylan Blanchard, Gypsy’s brother, his wife and another female had gone to Urker’s house after plans to spend time with him. They were reportedly expecting to see him for dinner but instead found him unresponsive
Autumn questioned whether Urker’s death was a result of natural causes. However, reports also stated she commented that law enforcement did not suspect foul play.
Her comments should therefore be taken as an explanation of the family’s thoughts on his passing, as well as a response to what the public may have believed. The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office has continued to describe the case as an ongoing death investigation.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Ken Urker Had Worked on Their Relationship
Prior to Urker’s sudden passing, Blanchard has spoken out frequently on how the couple have worked on their relationship as a result of their rekindled romance
In a 2025 interview with PEOPLE, the couple revealed they had been attending couples therapy, which Blanchard described as having a “neutral party” to listen to both sides without the “family drama” which can often affect relationship problems.
The couple had also been adapting to living together, having been separated for a significant amount of time between their original relationship and Blanchard’s imprisonment.
She described how getting to know Urker outside of prison almost felt as if she was dating a new person, given both of their ages and how they had changed since their original relationship.
She also wished to continue to improve their communication and work on becoming more open with one another.
Their relationship had therefore seen a number of key stages throughout its lifetime, prior to Urker’s sudden passing. The pair met with Blanchard imprisoned and they became engaged. However, they subsequently split, before both entered relationships with other people and eventually rekindled their romance. The pair reunited in 2024 and have since had a daughter, Aurora, who has tragically lost her father, with the circumstances surrounding his passing still yet to be determined.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Ken Urker Relationship Started in Prison
Blanchard met Urker during her imprisonment sentence for participating in the murder of her mother, Claudine “Dee Dee” Blanchard, that happened in 2015.
Blanchard admitted collaborating with Nicholas Godejohn in devising the idea of killing. Godejohn ended up stabbing Dee Dee to death. She was later convicted of second-degree murder. Meanwhile, Godejohn was convicted of first-degree murder and got a life sentence.
Media spotlight in the country started after the news came in with details of the alleged physical and emotional torture that Gypssy Rose Blanchard experienced during her mother’s parenting. Dee Dee had led many health care professionals as well as a host of other people to believe that her daughter had major physical ailments that needed constant medical care, resulting in over-diagnosis cases and various restrictions to his daughter’s normal living.
