Glen Powell Shares His One “Do-Over”
Glen Powell claims he doesn’t have a bucket full of regrets from his time in Tinseltown — but only the once, he would like to “do-over” his life.
On September 25, at the premiere of Chad Powers, the 36-year-old actor told PEOPLE that he would only want to re-live his reality TV career in his childhood for a single time if he had a “do-over”.
“There was a reality show I was on when I was 15 called Endurance, I fell off the barn and I was kicked off on the first day, so if I had a do-over, that would be it,” Powell admitted.
“It’s Really Sad”: Powell’s Reality TV Blunder
“In fact, I would do it all over again. You are able to check it out on your own. It’s really sad. Surely, there is a video. Everybody got to see it. You’re the only one who doesn’t annoy me with it,” Powell quipped to PEOPLE.
Once, he briefly recounted the incident. While conversing with Stephen Colbert, the comedian was sarcastic in his statement saying that Powell’s participation in Discovery Kids’ Endurance was actually his first, not a triumphant but a very shorted adventurous mishap.
“Speaking about it is, in fact, quite difficult for me, to be honest,” Powell confessed in the 2024 interview, showing signs of shame. “Not once have I talked about it before in public.”
Powell looks back at his past working on reality TV for a short time
“Powell recalled, “I can’t believe that they did this, but here we are. I was 13 years old, and I took part in Endurance; it was pretty much a kids’ version of Survivor.”
“The children were transported to Mexico in the series, where they were supposed to confront each other in survival-type challenges.” However, Powell conceded that he never got his big break.
“I was really eager to get on the show, but I was fired in the first episode,” confessed the actor of Top Gun: Maverick, saying that he still doesn’t like to go over that part of his past.”
Glen Powell’s Brief Stint on Endurance
Just one episode was Powell’s Window Made When First Season Endurance was He appeared in 2002.
Stephen Colbert, who later found and published the footage, shows a young Powell telling how he suffered during a monkey bars challenge. “I really thought that I would last for a long time, but my balance didn’t agree,” he confessed and the clip of him competing was shown. “The moment I knew that I was going out, was the worst.”
Family Support On and Off Screen
Powell spoke not only about his show but also about the importance of his parents in his journey alongside the promotion of his Hulu sports comedy. The film, which he henceforth refers to as “Chad Powers,” is his debut as the fallen college quarterback who miraculously rebrands himself as a new character.
In a chat with PEOPLE, the actor mentioned that his folks have been his strongest supporters right from the get-go and, appropriately, they are a brief appearance in his latest series.
Powell on Including His Parents in Chad Powers
Powell humorously mentioned that Cyndy Powell and Glen Powell Sr., his parents, have no objections to their little appearances. “At this point, they’re so fearless that they could take on the world,” he remarked. “I would say they’re probably the biggest beneficiaries of nepotism that have ever happened in Hollywood. They are. They really now expect it.”
On the other hand, having them with him is everything to him. “They’re having a good time and among the things that I really enjoy a lot is having them on the set. Having my friends and family with me on this journey makes it more of a pleasure than a job.”
The premiere date for Chad Powers is Tuesday, Sept. 30, on Hulu.
