Gene Simmons Jokes He Must “Watch” His “Girlish Figure” at 76: “The Problem Is Your Metabolism”

Gene‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Simmons Says He Needs to “Watch” His “Girlish Figure” at 76

Gene Simmons confessed that he remains a very passionate eater but at 76 years of age, he is making some changes in his diet. In a funny way, the KISS lead singer in his Men’s Health fridge tour video, which was available on Nov. 3, talking about his lean figure said: “I have to watch it. You know, my girlish figure and all that.” He talked about getting older and therefore it has become necessary for him to reduce his food intake – “the problem is your metabolism, it slows down like a tick‑tock of an old clock” – thus he is no longer allowed to eat as much as ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌before.

Desserts‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ are bliss — booze, not so much: Simmons credits his mother for his lifelong sobriety

Simmons reveals that desserts are his weakness to the point that he is a fanatic — “cookies, chocolates, and cake,” which he jokingly termed “as much fun as I can have with my pants on.” Besides, he never ceases to utter that he has never been a drinker and that he does this commendably as a credit to his late mother, Flora — a method which, he states, helps with weight ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌maintenance.

Gene‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Simmons says his mother was his biggest inspiration for staying sober all his life — and he still can’t resist sweets

Among other things, Simmons mentioned that he never drank because he didn’t want to “break her heart.” His mother, Flora, had survived the Nazi concentration camps at the age of 14.
“I’m the only one of her kids… she would give her life to save me from being hurt by anyone,” he said. “So this idea that you could be a loser, not be able to earn a living, and just destroy yourself… Nope.”
Elsewhere, the 76-year-old is allowing himself to desserts — “cookies, chocolates, and cake” — but he still gives the credit to sobriety and a controlled serving for his good shape. Likewise, he is happy with fruits and vegetables from the family’s garden: his wife Shannon, 68, prepares the pickles at home, and he likes their tomatoes and ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌prunes.

Gene‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Simmons Reveals That Sweets Are His Biggest Weakness – Mainly While On Tour

The KISS rocker says that as stage calories allow him to binge, but at home, he keeps it simple in the mornings
“When I am on the road, it doesn’t matter at all,” Simmons explained. “I would eat cheesecake every day because I am putting on 40 lbs. of armor, 7-inch platform heels… You really don’t have to do much. You will be totally exhausted in less than two hours. The number of calories that are burnt on stage is like doing a heavy workout. So I was free to eat whatever I wanted.”
However, sugar remains his Achilles heel. He shared that after a show he usually does not feel very hungry but wants to eat dessert and then the next morning will have “a big egg white, maybe a little steak, toast, coffee” and will not eat until late ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌afternoon.

Simmons‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ at 76 still insists that cold cereal with milk and a little bit of basic exercise saves his life

The musician, who as a joke said that he is a big cereal fan – but only with ice-cold milk – and admits that he’ll mix different cereals in one bowl to have “different flavors in every bite.” When it comes to the workout, his way is extremely simple: “Never,” he says jokingly. “As I said, I’m 76. Just walk. And you don’t have to walk miles and miles, 10,000 steps they tell you about. We are all different from each other genetically. Just try to stand more than you sit during the day. That’s all you’ll need.” Simmons will be at the KISS Kruise: Landlocked in Vegas event Nov. 14-16, the band’s first reunion since their 2023 farewell ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌tour.
