Everything We Know About 2022 TV Models

This year we’ve already seen waves upon waves of Earth-shattering TV sets that redefine the home cinema as we know it. From QLED to OLED and some more recent introductions to the family; Neo-QLED, QD-OLED and Mini-LED, there’s never been as many great options for your home until now.

But what’s coming next? What are we anticipating the most? And are these new TVs worth their hefty price tags? What’s the best choice? Fret not, all will be revealed shortly.

What’s new this year?

This year’s biggest innovation in TVs comes in the form of the QD-OLED screen. Combining the colour range and vibrancy of Quantum Dot screens, with the unbeatable refresh rate and greater contrast of OLED, Samsung and Sony have truly stepped up the competition against LG’s OLEDs this year.

Released in June, Samsung’s cutting-edge QD-OLED TV, the S95B, is the pinnacle of modern TVs. With the deepest blacks of OLED, and the vibrant colours of QLED, all the while retaining a 120 Hz refresh rate, Samsung has truly outdone themselves this time.

Sony’s flagship TV, however, comes in the form of the BRAVIA XR 65A95KU. For the intrepid gamers out there with cash to spare, there is no finer companion to your next-gen console than the A95K. Even if you’re not a gamer, you’ll find that Sony has absolutely loaded the A95K with features that’ll blow your mind. From a built-in camera for family get-togethers to Ambient Optimisation Pro, which adjusts the picture based on where you’re sitting in the room, the A95K may very well be our TV of the year.

Let’s not forget about LG! Their brand new, colossal 97-inch G2 OLED TV is set to be available in the second half of 2022, smashing records as the largest OLED screen ever made. If you would like the pleasure of this enormous TV, however, it’ll set you back around £25,000, so it’s definitely not for the faint of heart!

Perhaps the most exciting of all though, for techies and film-buffs alike, is Samsung’s range of 8K Neo-QLED TVs. We all knew they were coming, but we didn’t expect to see them so soon, the 8K TV is no longer a fantasy, and as the year goes by, we’re seeing options that may actually be affordable.

Our next pick, however, is far from cheap. Samsung’s QN900B was released in April this year, offering for users the sharpest, most realistic picture conceivable as of now. Utilising both Neo-QLED and Mini-LED tech, the QN900B is able to create picture quality that is truly top-of-the-line, no questions asked. The QN900B’s greatest flaw, however, is its mammoth price tag, costing around £7,800, so you might have to wait a while before it becomes affordable.

Are these cutting-edge TVs worth it?

All-in-all, this is probably the most important question we could ask. Most of our selections are going to cost you a good amount of money on the get-go, they’re the best TVs money can buy, after all. In our opinion, you can get some incredible TVs at a fraction of the cost of some of our picks, and while they’re not going to be as amazing, we’re sure you’ll love them, so maybe hold off on picking up an 8K TV for a little while.
