Erin Bates is in the process of recovering from a scary incident.
Her septic shock hospitalization has been followed by an emotional update Chad Paine, her husband, shares.
Bringing Up Bates alum Erin Bates is recuperating after a health crisis that scared her severely. Just a few days after giving birth to their seventh child, Henry, Erin got worse so rapidly that she was admitted to the hospital.
Her spouse, Chad Paine, posted a short but very positive update on her health, “We are almost ‘in recovery’ – with tears in our eyes we are giving thanks to God,” he said on Instagram Sept. 6, together with a video of Erin seeing and kissing their little boy. “Your prayers have brought down angels from heaven for sure.”
A Terrifying Setback in the ICU
Erin faced seizures and septic shock just days after giving birth.
The 34-year-old’s health reveal was just two days after her husband revealed another frightening turn of events. In the early stages of labor, Erin experienced a ‘lengthy and severe seizure’ and was transported to the ICU by ambulance after her urinary tract infection and kidney infection had developed into septic shock.
‘Erin’s infection was getting better up to this point, but we found ourselves back in a place of agony, doubt, and tears,’ Chad wrote on Instagram Sept. 4. He further said that the doctors were doing scans and tests to get answers as Erin got very weak and sometimes, she was only half-conscious for hours.
Chad – who is also the father of seven children with Erin, namely Carson, 10, Brooklyn, 8, Everly, 7, Holland, 5, Finley, 3, William, 22 months, and Henry – said the experience was a great test of their faith but the support from family, friends, and fans has been a consolation.
Family Support
Erin’s family and husband were her rock in the time of the health crisis. “I suppose that as her husband, I have never experienced a situation that is more difficult than when I had to watch her battle and, at the very same time, be so powerless to alleviate her suffering,” Chad stated. “I really love her so much and I am not quite sure how I would manage without her, my best friend.”
Erin also got a lot of love from her big family in addition to Chad’s continuous support. Her 18 siblings were a great support during her hospitalization. Her elder sister Michaela Bates Keilen posted a picture of Erin holding baby Henry and said the family felt “overwhelmed with gratitude for the outpouring of love, concern and prayer.”
Overwhelmed with support
Michaela Keilen, Sister, tells of gratitude for the messages and prayers.
“First of all, I want to thank and to thank again every single one of you who was praying for my sister Erin and her family,” Michaela wrote on her Instagram, Sept. 4. “I really haven’t been able to reply to each and every message, but please understand that the messages, texts, and comments we keep receiving have really touched us, and we are so thankful.”
Michaela also gave a brief report on Erin’s baby, saying, “Henry is really an angel baby and we have with him lots of love.”
Prayers From Every Corner of the Family
Erin’s siblings rally around her with love and encouragement.
The Bates family then elevated their support, flooding social media with messages of love and prayer.. Whitney Bates, the wife of Erin’s older brother Zachary, said of herself and her husband, “We are continuing to send Erin all our love and pray so hard for her.”
A few of Erin’s younger siblings also contributed some uplifting words on Chad’s health update, Sept. 4. Katie Bates Clark wrote that she and her husband Travis “will be praying for you,” while brother Lawson Bates commented that he and his wife, Tiffany Espensen, “will be praying every day for a miraculous healing.”
