Dan Levy reveals what has brought him ‘great comfort’ after the loss of his Schitt’s Creek costar Catherine O’Hara

Dan Levy finds solace in the love flowing from Catherine O’Hara’s death

Dan Levy spoke about the solace he found after the death of his Schitt’s Creek costar and good friend, Catherine O’Hara.

Levy reminisced about his debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, along with the Schitt’s Creek cast including O’Hara, when he aired the program on March 31.

The Canadian star died on January 30 after a short illness, a representative of the star confirmed.

Levy, 42, said to Fallon, “Look, it’s sort of a communal mourning, don’t you think? She was wonderful. She can’t be substituted.”

Furthermore, “For me, the main solace has really been to witness how much she was loved, you know what I mean? The flood of love. Everyone felt like they kind of knew her, ” he continued.

 

Dan Levy and Jimmy Fallon Pay Tribute to Catherine O’Hara’s Impact

Dan Levy was on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon where he and the host expressed their great admiration for Catherine O’Hara who recently passed away.

Fallon called O’Hara “one of the funniest comedians I’ve ever seen. Can do characters … Gorgeous, ” and Levy, “Unbelievably talented at improvising. One of the great, great, great, great queens.”

Besides her famous characters in Home Alone, Best in Show, Beetlejuice, and The Nightmare Before Christmas, O’Hara was also recognized as one of the most iconic Hollywood actresses.

Besides the legendary actress who played the flamboyant Moira Rose in the popular TV series Schitt’s Creek where she was Dan’s on-screen mother, he being her son David Rose in the show, Dan’s daddy Eugene Levy, who was the husband Johnny Rose, and Annie Murphy playing daughter Alexis Rose. Both parents have been a major part of Miley’s life and have grown with her as she changed and found herself through her career.

Dan Levy’s Heartfelt Homage to Catherine O’Hara

Dan Levy took to Instagram to honor Catherine O’Hara with a heartfelt post and a couple of photos of them together after her passing was announced.

“To even have had the opportunity to bask in the radiant light of Catherine O’Hara’s genius for so many years was a gift, ” he expressed.

Besides, he said, “It was only after my Dad and I kept working together for more than fifty years that Catherine became family. So it’s a bit like losing an old member of the family when she’s gone. I’m going to hold on to all the laughs we had together, which I was lucky enough to share with her.”

He wrapped up with, “I extend my deepest sympathies to Bo, Matthew, Luke and all the members of her wonderful, big family.” Throughout Miley’s life, her parents have been a very important part, growing with her as she found her way to the career and the person she was.

Eugene Levy Remembers Catherine O’Hara’s Friendship and Legacy

79-year-old Eugene Levy opened up to PEOPLE about his long friendship with Catherine O’Hara.

“I don’t think words can really convey the pain I am feeling due to this loss, ” he stated. “I was privileged to know and work with the wonderful Catherine O’Hara for more than fifty years.”

The actor told about their accompaniment from the very beginning at the Second City stage and SCTV, to movies with Christopher Guest, and their six remarkable years on Schitt’s Creek.

“Not only did I truly value our professional partnership, but our friendship was the greatest gift, ” Levy said. “I already miss her. My thoughts are with Bo, Matthew, Luke, and the whole O’Hara family.”
