Chris Hemsworth could not have been prouder of his daughter after she won a bull riding competition as the only female competitor. The actor shared video of the 14-year-old’s victory ride on social media, writing that he was ‘just saying my daughter is a savage’.
India Rose, the eldest daughter of Hemsworth and wife Elsa Pataky, scored another win for her dad with the latest win in her rodeo career.
India managed to stay on the bucking bull for nine seconds, going beyond the eight seconds she had reminded her dad were required. An announcer introduced the teenager before she entered the arena, while people watching from behind the fence cheered as she completed the ride.
Chris Hemsworth Celebrates Daughter India’s Rodeo Win
As well as the videos of India’s win, her dad shared a funny clip of their chat before her winning ride. Hemsworth was walking alongside India and asking how she was feeling, suggesting she should aim to stay on the bull for seven seconds during the competition.
India corrected her dad, explaining that he needed to stay on for eight seconds, and Hemsworth took the tease well, allowing his daughter to take over the reins in the arena.
Her previous rodeo outing
This was not India’s first rodeo – literally, in fact, as Hemsworth shared a clip of his daughter’s first bull riding experience back in January 2025. While the family went to a rodeo together, India and one of her younger brothers took their turns riding the bull.
India wore a helmet and protective gear as her family cheered her on before she was thrown clear of the riding animal. Another clip showed one of the twins taking his turn at the rodeo.
“Starting the year with a bit of adrenaline,” Elsa captioned the post, which also featured pictures of the family’s day out.
India was competing in what several reports have since described as an all-boys bull riding competition, making her the sole woman at the event.
Hemsworth drew attention to this fact in his Instagram caption in celebration of not only her victory, but also that she had to compete in an otherwise male-dominated field.
India’s Love of Adventure Sports
India has shown her love for adventure sports in other ways, with Hemsworth sharing a clip of his daughter riding a motorbike over a jump in a recent post.
The bike flew over the obstacle and India successfully landed the other side, with her dad writing how impressed he was that she stayed on the machine.
Riding motorbikes is just one of the outdoor pursuits the family enjoy, along with surfing and horse riding. Hemsworth and Elsa frequently share photos and videos of their adventures, with the couple riding horses with their children or riding surfboards on waves.
India’s interest in motorbikes has also been seen in some of Hemsworth’s earlier social media posts. In one clip, the teenager raced over a dirt track and launched into the air before successfully landing the bike.
Hemsworth praised her for holding on through the jump and shared how impressed he was with her riding skills.
India’s passion for horses is something she shares particularly with her mother, riding animals being one of Elsa’s favourites.
A special trip with Elsa.
India has enjoyed some special trips with her mother, including a visit to Kenya over the summer with her mother. Hemsworth shared photos of the pair riding horses around the Maasai Mara.
During the Kenya adventure, India and Elsa rode horses in the Maasai Mara and had the chance to see some of the region’s elephants. The two women had the opportunity to bond with each other in the wilderness, experiencing evenings spent together in campfires.
Elsa shared pictures from their trip, showing the family spotting the local wildlife. India featured with her mother in the feed of pictures showing their stay in Kenya which saw them stay close to a campfire.
“Memories from one of my favourite places in the world… Kenya,” Elsa wrote on Instagram, labelling her post ‘the adventure of a lifetime’.
Chris Hemsworth Family Life in Australia
Hemsworth and Elsa have twin sons Sasha and Tristan, 12, who share their mother’s love of the outdoors. The couple married in December 2010 but moved from Los Angeles to Byron Bay in Australia in 2015.
The family has plenty of adventures on their doorstep, with the beach on one side and horses at the other. Hemsworth shared a picture of his sons riding horses at the family’s Byron Bay property in a post from last year.
The twins have also enjoyed their own sporting achievements, Hemsworth celebrating Sasha’s first boardriders competition win in June 2025 with a picture of his son and a video of the competition.
“So happy for my boy winning his first board riders comp,” he captioned the post, giving the Byron Bay local club a shout-out along with his praise for his son.
Why the Hemsworth Family Chose Life in Australia
The family’s love of outdoor activities is also one reason Hemsworth has spoken so positively about raising his children in Australia.
The actor previously described moving his family from Los Angeles to Byron Bay as the “greatest decision,” explaining that he and Elsa were not enjoying life in L.A. and had grown tired of the constant attention from paparazzi.
In Australia, Hemsworth said coming home feels like a holiday for him. The family has a large property where the children can spend time around horses, ride motorbikes and enjoy surfing.
The outdoor lifestyle has become a major part of the children’s upbringing and has given India and her brothers plenty of opportunities to explore their interests away from Hollywood.
The Bull Riding Video Also Drew Criticism
While many people praised India for her achievement, the bull riding video had some negative comments as well. A few people complained about animal cruelty and said that bull riding should not be promoted.
One commenter wrote, “The poor bull. Animal abuse should not be entertainment,” while another urged Chris Hemsworth not to promote the sport.
