A Summer of Contrasts
Chloë Grace Moretz went through a summer of tempest.
The 28 years old was on location in Utah filming the serial killer thriller The Edge of Normal, she rehearsed an off-Broadway play called Caroline in New York City — and, by the way, she got married to her long-term partner Kate Harrison over Labor Day weekend.
On the Today show, Sept. 22, Chloë said, “Between the film I filmed this summer called The Edge of Normal and then doing rehearsals on this project, which is also not a lighthearted project, and then going away and having a dreamy wedding, I think it’s such a funny juxtaposition of being an actor – we are all going and playing these dark characters, then we are going and having the most monumental moments of our life happen.”
A Dreamy Wedding Look
Looking back at her wedding day, Chloë said, “It was definitely a nice break and a certain nice juxtaposition.”
The pair of them got married in custom Louis Vuitton outfits that were made by Nicolas Ghesquière. Chloë combined a soft blue dress with a matching veil to give a new twist to “something blue.”
In a video released Sept. 1 to Vogue, she was explaining her color choice and said, “It could be one of those things – ice cream or something.” “Like a sweet!”
Two Brides, Two Looks
Kate Harrison, a model, and photographer, went with a more traditional bridal look: a strapless bustier and a lace skirt, after that she changed into a sheer tunic with matching pants for the after-party. In a chat with Vogue, Chloë shared that working with Louis Vuitton’s Nicolas Ghesquière has always been her dream ever since their engagement happened. “I knew right away that I wanted to contact Nicolas and Louis Vuitton [to] see if he would be interested in making my wedding dress,” she said. “And I got a very ecstatic response from Nicolas not only that he would be willing to make my wedding dress but he also wanted to let Kate in on it — and to make both of [the] wedding dresses and our after-party looks.”
A Celebration of Love
The bride and groom put a lot of personalized details into their wedding that reflected both their relationship and personalities. Having started their love relationship in 2018, Chloë and Kate decided to integrate their leisure activities through the ceremony and reception — they had everything from horseback riding and poker to fishing and line dancing.
“We have been a couple for almost seven years and it feels like we are doing this step over again, and exchanging these vows,” Chloë said. “I believe it is very important to keep choosing each other every day.”
