In celebration of the marathon, elite marathoner and four-time Olympian Shalane Flanagan and Chef Elyse Kopecky\u00a0will be in town promoting their new cookbook for runners, \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.runfasteatslow.com\/#home\" target=\"_blank\">Run Fast. In addition to introducing \u201cRun Fast. Eat Slow.,&#8221; the women promise to give an &#8220;inspirational&#8221; talk on &#8220;indulgent nourishment&#8221; \u2014 their theory that\u00a0food can be\u00a0both nutritious\u00a0and indulgent.\u00a0\u00a0If you&#8217;re looking to PR in your next race or are interested in healthy cooking trends, you may want to attend this event.<\/p>\n<p>Contrary to what many athletes are\u00a0programmed to think, the co-authors believe that adhering to restrictive diet guidelines and obsessing over calories may actually do more harm than good. Consequently, they created recipes that\u00a0incorporate fats, proteins, and antioxidants needed to properly fuel and aid in the speedy recovery of endurance athletes. Quite impressively, their book boasts\u00a0over 100 of these recipes, none of which use refined sugar or flour.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Event Details<\/h2>\n<p>Their talk, which will take place Thursday, October 6 at <a href=\"http:\/\/everybodyscoffee.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Everybody\u2019s Coffee<\/a> in Uptown, begins at 7pm. Shalane and Elyse will stay after their presentation to sign books, answer questions and pose for photos.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets for the event, hosted by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bookcellarinc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Book Cellar<\/a>, are expected to sell out.
