Your shirt looks yellow (especially around the collar or under the armpits). In anticipation of your next (at-home) White Party or (at-home) Memorial Day plans, be sure to try this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.popsugar.com\/smart-living\/How-Remove-Sweat-Stains-31003483\">simple DIY project<\/a> to remove dingy stains.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Soak<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Combine 2 cups of warm water with 1 cup of vinegar in a small bowl. Submerge and soak your item in this solution for a minimum of 20 minutes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Be Bill Nye<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>While your item is soaking, make a paste from the following household items. You\u2019ll feel like a scientist in no time!<br \/>\n&#8211; \u00bd cup of baking soda<br \/>\n&#8211; 1 tablespoon of salt<br \/>\n&#8211; 1 tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pat the Paste<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After approximately 20 minutes of soaking your item, gently ring and twist the vinegar solution out of it until damp. Lay the item flat and apply the paste to the stains (you can use a spoon for a thick application). Allow the paste to do its magic for at least another 20 minutes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wash With Whites<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Throw that item in a load with your other white items for laundry day. You\u2019ll be amazed by how pristine your white items look!<\/p>\n<h3>DIY Dry Cleaning<\/h3>\n<p>Save money! Save the earth!<\/p>\n<p>You most likely have a pile of your prettiest clothes that you\u2019ve worn as many times as you can \u2014 before quarantine. In light of isolation, you can <a href=\"https:\/\/nymag.com\/strategist\/article\/dry-cleaning-at-home.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">dry-clean these items<\/a> in anticipation of their debut (post-quarantine)!!<\/p>\n<p><strong>It\u2019s in the (Mesh) Bag<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/dp\/B017NEYOQQ?ascsubtag=%5b%5dst%5bp%5dcjj028av2005u4ly6t73nzl9h%5bi%5doTpUhl%5bd%5dD%5bz%5dm%5bt%5dw&amp;tag=thestrategistsite-20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mesh bags<\/a> are ideal for clothing that needs a lighter touch. For your wool, silk, rayon, or other dry-clean items, mesh bags and an express cycle with warm water make up the ideal combination. First, mesh bags mitigate the friction your clothes would otherwise experience in the washer. Remember to wash the item inside out and then place inside the mesh bag!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Soapy Suds = No Residue<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Now invest the money you would have spent on dry cleaning one item and put it towards a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thelaundress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">premium\/top-shelf laundry product<\/a>. Don\u2019t skimp on the detergent \u2014 especially if you want a soft touch and no residue.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Squash Those Stains<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Now for those items that have stains and happen to be dry clean only \u2014 there\u2019s a solution!<\/p>\n<p>Spot-treat with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thelaundress.com\/how-to\/wash-and-stain-bar.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">stain product<\/a> (similar to that of the detergent you used \u2014 top-shelf preferable!) and a toothbrush or, if you\u2019re super bougie, you can spot-treat with a horsehair brush and stain product.<\/p>\n<p>Spot-treat for cotton items with a spray bottle filled with rubbing alcohol.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Smooth Those Wrinkles<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Wrinkles cramp your style \u2014 but with your at-home can-do attitude, they won\u2019t stand a chance!<\/p>\n<p>If you don\u2019t have a steamer lying around, use a wet towel between the clothing item and an iron.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sniff, Sniff, Super!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you are craving that clean, fresh scent, look into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thelaundress.com\/ironing-water-classic-16-fl-oz.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ironing Water<\/a> as you iron. When you\u2019re in a pinch for money (or in need of a sense of accomplishment), you can dry-clean your items at home and feel like a pro!<\/p>\n<h3>Cleaning Your Couch<\/h3>\n<p>Your couch has gotten a lot of one-on-one time with you. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.diynetwork.com\/how-to\/maintenance-and-repair\/cleaning\/how-to-clean-a-couch\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Give it the clean<\/a> it deserves!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dirt is Dirty<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Equipped with a vacuum or brush extension from your vacuum, you\u2019re fully prepared to get into all the nooks and crannies of your couch. Is that an Oreo? Is that my left AirPod? Sure is. Treasures lie within the depths of your couch!<\/p>\n<p>If you want to deodorize your couch cushions, stick around near the end after cleaning the stains.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Non-fabric Embellishments<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Be ready to mix a solution of water and a gentle soap (liquid dish soap is good!) in a spray bottle. Spray down the non-fabric (i.e. wood or metal) parts of your couch and wipe down with a soft towel. This may seem tedious &#8211; but it\u2019s so necessary for a complete look and feel.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Upholstery Cleaning<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ask the right questions. What fabric are you dealing with?<\/p>\n<p>Find that tag with a bunch of symbols, text, and letters. Find it? Good! Let\u2019s decipher those hieroglyphics &#8211; together.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>WS: dry-cleaning detergent or mild cleaning product and steam vacuum.<\/li>\n<li>S: ONLY dry cleaning detergent (!!)<\/li>\n<li>X: No water. No dry cleaning detergent. Just a vacuum.<\/li>\n<li>W: Water is A-OK (i.e. this is the friendliest for cleaning!)!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Upholstery Cleaning<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Second, see a stain? Spot-treat it! This, is of course, all dependent on your previous hieroglyphic reading. Be careful!<\/p>\n<p><em>Fabric (W and, most likely, WS)<\/em>: Make a solution of vinegar (\u00bc cup), warm water (\u00be cup), and dish soap (1 tablespoon) in a spray bottle. Spray the stain and scrub it out with a soft cloth. Once the stain is out (or lifted), be sure to remove the soap with a second cloth (preferably, moistened with water).
