Festival season is right around the corner! We\u2019ve got the entire month of May covered for you. We\u2019re just hoping the weather complies since we don\u2019t provide that kind of cover (Umbrellas coming soon! \u2026Not really though). Here\u2019s the complete breakdown of May festivals:<\/p>\n

\"Chicago<\/a><\/p>\n

Chicago Kids and Kites Festival
\n<\/strong>May 2nd<\/sup> at Montrose Harbor (10 am \u2013 4 pm)<\/em><\/p>\n

For anyone with children, the Chicago Kids and Kites Festival<\/a> is pretty much perfect. Not only do kids get to fly kites, they get to help build and decorate them too. As we all know, kids have short attention spans, so when they start to tail off you can take them over to the face painting, balloon artists, and kite shaped magnet craft stations. Admission is free, but supplies are limited, so get there early.<\/p>\n

\"Cinco<\/a><\/p>\n

Cinco de Mayo Festival
\n<\/strong>May 1st<\/span>-3rd<\/span>\u00a0in Little Village<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em>Don\u2019t take a siesta, enjoy the fiesta! What better to celebrate Cinco de Mayo than to join the heart of the Spanish-speaking community for a huge gathering? There will be food, live music, arts & crafts, and activities for kids and families. If you already have plans for the 5th<\/sup>, don\u2019t worry. The event<\/a> takes place the weekend before the actual day, so you\u2019ll be able to get even more celebrating in if you so choose.<\/p>\n

\"American<\/a><\/p>\n

American Beer Classic
\n<\/strong>May 9th<\/sup> at Soldier Field<\/em><\/p>\n

There will be upwards of 200 unique brews to try at the American Beer Classic this year. Note: Don\u2019t try all 200+ at once for obvious reasons.
\nThis is Chicago\u2019s largest beer festival<\/a>, which is reason enough to check it out. It\u2019s also on a Saturday, which means you get a full day of recovering from that hangover before you return to work. What\u2019s not to love?
\n\"Mayfest<\/a><\/p>\n

Mayfest
\n<\/strong>May 15th<\/sup>-17th<\/sup> in Lakeview<\/em><\/p>\n

Not to be confused with Maifest (which we\u2019ll get to, hold your horses), Mayfest<\/a> brings together everything you want in a festival: music, food, and performances. Oh, and drinks (and by drinks, I mean a huge beer garden and massive tent with two beer booths in it). There\u2019s a ton that goes on here outside of live performances too including Chicago Kids Day and the Chicago Pet Pageant & Expo.<\/p>\n

\"Randolph<\/a><\/p>\n

Randolph Street Market Festival
\n<\/strong>May 23rd<\/sup>-24th<\/sup> in the West Loop<\/em><\/p>\n

This festival<\/a> is actually comprised of four different markets, which means there\u2019s probably something here you\u2019ll enjoy. It\u2019s broken down into the Chicago Antique Market, Indie Designer Market, Modern Vintage Chicago, and the Holiday Market. There are a ton of bargains to be had here, so if you\u2019re someone who likes flea markets or shopping around for deals, you\u2019re coming to the right place. Additionally, It\u2019s both indoor and outdoor, which means you can either sit outside and bask in the sun or hang out inside and avoid the rain (that\u2019s Chicago for you).
\n\"Bike<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Bike the Drive
\n<\/strong>May 24th<\/sup> on Lake Shore Drive<\/em><\/p>\n

This one is huge! More than 20,000 people usually attend Bike the Drive<\/a>, making it one of the most popular organized bike rides in the nation. A few reasons to check it out: you\u2019ll get to ride around without having to worry about Lake Shore Drive traffic, get some exercise, and enjoy the post-ride fest with food and music. You get a shirt too!
\n\"Maifest\"<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Maifest
\n<\/strong>May 28th<\/sup>-31st<\/sup> in Lincoln Square<\/em><\/p>\n

Yep, the other<\/em> Maifest<\/a>. This one celebrates German heritage over a three-day period and offers something the other doesn\u2019t, dancing!\u00a0The first day offers an event I\u2019d personally love to attend, the traditional keg tapping. Ah, to relive the ol\u2019 college days\u2026<\/p>\n

Anyway, the fest is huge and features live music and entertainment throughout all days of the event.<\/p>\n

\"Do<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Do Division Festival
\n<\/strong>May 29th<\/sup>-30th<\/sup> in Wicker Park<\/em><\/p>\n

Going for it\u2019s 9th<\/sup> consecutive year, Do Division<\/a> combines shopping, live performances, and food & drink. There will be two stages equipped with DJs, pony rides and face painting on Saturday and Sunday, and a Do Fashion segment\u2014which features some of the latest styles and trends from the vaunted Division Street shopping area. This one is especially great because it only costs a recommended donation of $5, though you can choose to pay more if you\u2019d like.
\n\"Millennium<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Millennium Art Festival
\n<\/strong>May 29th<\/sup>-31st<\/sup> at Michigan Ave.<\/em><\/p>\n

If you\u2019re into art, this is the one to go to. Millennium Art Festival<\/a> has pretty much every type of art you can think of, and I\u2019m not exaggerating. There are over 130 artists with their works on display, and like almost every other fest mentioned here, music and food to go along with it.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s also a freestanding graffiti wall to practice on, how cool is that!?<\/p>\n
