What&#8217;s more, attending any late night taping is, for the most part, totally free, so there\u2019s really no reason <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">not<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to gamble for a chance to see Kate McKinnon<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> up close<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in person<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s how to weasel your way into the audience of your favorite late night TV show.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-22034 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/urbanmatter.com\/chicago\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/shutterstock_131946563-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Live Studio\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some shows are easier to get into than others, like <em>Saturday Night Live<\/em>, for example. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To snag a spot at this Saturday night packed house, all you have to do is take part in an email lottery at the beginning of the season from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbc.com\/saturday-night-live\/video\/may-12-amy-schumer\/3718465\">NBC<\/a> to register for seats. If you\u2019re selected, you\u2019ll be given a random date (or a few options, depending) and a limited number of tickets, so don\u2019t expect any kind of special treatment for registering early.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>You can also scam standby tix by hangin&#8217; outside of Rockefeller Center around 8 pm on a Saturday, but in all honesty, that&#8217;s a crapshoot.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_22040\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-22040\" style=\"width: 527px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-22040\" src=\"https:\/\/urbanmatter.com\/chicago\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/30900072_1760613297332851_8027914868365459456_n.jpg\" alt=\"Late Night TV\" width=\"527\" height=\"527\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-22040\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Photo Credit: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/BiRqL1jjA1K\/?hl=en&amp;taken-by=fallontonight\">The Tonight Show Instagram<\/a><\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Others, such as <em>The Tonight Show<\/em> with Jimmy Fallon, or the\u00a0<em>Late Show<\/em> with Stephen Colbert, and <em>The Daily Show<\/em> with Trevor Noah, only allow you to book once every so often, and months in advance, to ensure that everyone has a chance to see the show.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_22041\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-22041\" style=\"width: 1080px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-22041\" src=\"https:\/\/urbanmatter.com\/chicago\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/31512039_1654535707976152_2368308536825348096_n.jpg\" alt=\"Late Night TV\" width=\"1080\" height=\"720\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-22041\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Photo Credit: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/BiyJSNinF0i\/?hl=en&amp;taken-by=colbertlateshow\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Stephen Colbert Late Show Instagram<\/a><\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Of course, there are definitely a few programs that like to think of themselves as more exclusive, and therefore, are more restrictive on their lotteries. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For instance, <em>Last Week Tonight<\/em> with John Oliver requires you to enter to win within a short, two-week stretch to make it into the audience. And, if you\u2019ve attended at all in the past two seasons, they basically beg you not to enter again until more people have had a chance to win. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>Full Frontal<\/em> with Samantha Bee also only has a two-week entry period, so you\u2019re going to want to make sure you\u2019re actually in the city for the viewing. If you\u2019re an out-of-towner just looking for a few touristy things to do, this probably isn\u2019t the right show for you.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We wouldn\u2019t blame you if you\u2019re not keen on going through the slow process of emailing in. The more adventurous types can always camp outside the studios to try a hand at scoring standby tickets the day of the show. Most people get there the night before though, so you\u2019re in for a long wait if you show up in the morning. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Most shows offer this kind of last-minute ticketing, and some depend on it alone, like <em>Late Night<\/em> with Seth Meyers. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Of course, if it doesn&#8217;t work out, there\u2019s always the Comedy Cellar out in Greenwich Village. Though not taped on live television, celebrity comedians often wander into this secluded, but well-known club to practice their new stand-up, leaving you, the random audience member, to determine whether or not their jokes are funny enough for a Netflix gig. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>But, for now, good luck, New York!
