If you’re looking to change up your plans this weekend, then you’re in luck: The New Yorker Festival\u00a0is taking over the city from October 6th-October 8th<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now in it’s 18th year, the three-day-long event is filled with speakers and discussion panels that will engage a variety of age groups, backgrounds and interests. Whether you’re looking to get political with former U.S. director of National Intelligence James R. Clapper or are interested in a more light hearted chat with Canadian pop icon Carly Rae Jepsen, this festival has something for every taste.<\/p>\n

Program highlights include: a spotlight on Black-ish<\/em> star Tracee Ellis Ross, Jeffrey Tobin’s interview with Preet Bharara and a discussion with author and activist Naomi Klein about her recent book, “No is Not Enough: Resisting Trump’s Shock Politics and Winning the World We Need.”<\/p>\n

Film fiends will be treated to a variety of screenings at this year’s fest including LBJ<\/em>, a biopic about former President Lyndon B. Johnson and The Meyerowitz Stories<\/em>, a drama-comedy featuring Emma Thompson, Ben Stiller, Adam Sandler and Dustin Hoffman.<\/p>\n

For any bibliophiles out there, the festival will also play host to a variety of book signings from October 7 and October 8, with literary big-wigs like Edwidge Danticat, George Saunders, Sherman Alexie and Arlie Hochschild all in attendance. These signings will take place at McNally Jackson in SoHo and a complete schedule of authors can be found here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Events are held at a variety of venues across the city including The New York Society of Ethical Culture<\/a>, Gramercy Theatre<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0Director’s Guild Theatre<\/a>. Tickets are available via the festival’s website<\/a> as well as at the box office at each location besides the Frick Collection<\/a>. Limited edition New Yorker T-Shirts are also available for purchase, so you can remember your time at the festival for years to come!<\/p>\n
