The Chicago White Sox<\/strong> (63\u201399 last year) face the Sacramento Athletics (59\u2013103) in one of our final spring training games, and this is our third matchup with them. We lost 99 games. They lost 103\u2014worst in baseball. Both teams are rebuilding disasters, but at least we’re not the absolute worst.<\/p>\n

The Athletics\u2014now in Sacramento after leaving Oakland\u2014have Mason Miller throwing 102 mph and Zack Gelof trying to establish himself. We have Colson Montgomery trying to become our franchise cornerstone and Drew Thorpe trying to earn a rotation spot.<\/p>\n

Both teams are terrible. Both are years away from competing. And Opening Day is almost here.<\/p>\n

For White Sox fans, this is one of our final spring evaluations against a team that’s somehow even worse than we are.<\/p>\n

Where the White Sox Stand With Opening Day Approaching<\/h2>\n

Ninety-nine losses. We’re rebuilding, and it’s going to take years. Colson Montgomery is supposed to save us. Drew Thorpe is supposed to anchor the rotation. Luis Robert Jr. is supposed to stay healthy.<\/p>\n

          \nBoth throw hard with strikeout stuff. Miller has more raw velocity (102 mph). Thorpe has better command. Third matchup between these teams this spring.<\/p>\n
