The Chicago Cubs<\/strong> host the San Francisco Giants at Sloan Park today, and this is another solid test. Both teams finished around .500 last year\u2014we went 78\u201384, they went 79\u201383. Both missed the playoffs. Both are trying to figure out if 2026 will be different.<\/p>\n

The Giants have Logan Webb, one of the best pitchers in the National League. We have Tyler Glasnow, our new ace. They have Marco Luciano trying to finally break through. We have Jackson Merrill trying to establish himself as our franchise shortstop.<\/p>\n

          \nBoth are elite starters. Webb has pinpoint command and has been one of baseball’s best pitchers for years. Glasnow has more velocity and strikeout ability. This should be a quality pitching matchup.<\/p>\n

          \nGlasnow’s been excellent all spring. Against a Giants lineup with quality hitters, he should continue dominating. Three or four innings with strikeouts and sharp command.<\/p>\n

          \nMerrill’s had a solid spring. Another quality performance today\u2014good at-bats, smooth defense\u2014keeps the momentum going toward Opening Day.<\/p>\n

          \nPCA’s defense is already elite. He needs to keep showing the bat is catching up. Hard contact, smart approaches, aggressive baserunning against San Francisco’s quality pitching.<\/p>\n

          \nHorton, Shaw, and Alc\u00e1ntara should all look good. We’ve still got spring games left\u2014keep building confidence and momentum.<\/p>\n
