Proof of Vaccination Required to Enter Some Chicago Businesses Beginning Today"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In case you forgot, the city of Chicago&#8217;s mandate that certain city business will require proof of vaccination beginning today, January 3rd. Those business include, but are not limited to, bars, restaurants, gyms &amp; other fitness clubs, and entertainment venues such as sporting events. Patrons will be required to show proof to enter these business, as per Mayor Lightfoot&#8217;s announcement in December.<\/p>\n<p>The city&#8217;s decision comes after similar requirements were implemented in other major cities across the United States. This was inevitable it seemed like as the colder months set in and the new variant spread. It felt as if we were trending toward changes in restrictions, however, this was done in order to avoid the catastrophic possibility of <a href=\"https:\/\/urbanmatter.com\/chicago\/when-can-we-expect-chicago-to-enter-phase-5\/\">shutting down indoor usage<\/a> of local establishments\u2014a move that decimated a lot of small businesses in 2020.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The time to get vaccinated is now. <\/p>\n<p>It&#39;s the best way to protect yourself and your family from severe illness or death from COVID.<\/p>\n<p>The new vax requirement for certain indoor spaces goes into effect on Jan. 3rd. Find more information and resources on <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Kx6nROXUYQ\">https:\/\/t.co\/Kx6nROXUYQ<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/LaDyRohE7M\">pic.twitter.com\/LaDyRohE7M<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Chicago Department of Public Health &#8211; CDPH (@ChiPublicHealth) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ChiPublicHealth\/status\/1473714966066868234?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 22, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Sam Toia, president of the Illinois Restaurant Association, said his group pushed for \u201cas business-friendly mitigations as they could get\u201d amid the surge since the industry is still in a \u201cfragile recovery,\u201d he said. \u201cCapacity limits would kill the the industry,\u201d but vaccine passports would keep businesses in operation, Toia said.<\/p>\n<p>Here is a list of businesses that will require proof of vaccination beginning today, via <a href=\"https:\/\/blockclubchicago.org\/\">Block Club Chicago<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Indoor dining spots<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Restaurants.<\/li>\n<li>Bars.<\/li>\n<li>Fast food establishments.<\/li>\n<li>Coffee shops.<\/li>\n<li>Tasting rooms.<\/li>\n<li>Cafeterias.<\/li>\n<li>Food courts.<\/li>\n<li>Dining areas of grocery stores.<\/li>\n<li>Breweries.<\/li>\n<li>Wineries.<\/li>\n<li>Distilleries.<\/li>\n<li>Banquet halls.<\/li>\n<li>Hotel ballrooms.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Indoor fitness establishments<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Gyms.<\/li>\n<li>Recreation facilities.<\/li>\n<li>Fitness centers.<\/li>\n<li>Yoga, pilates, cycling, barre and dance studios.<\/li>\n<li>Hotel gyms.<\/li>\n<li>Boxing and kickboxing gyms.<\/li>\n<li>Fitness boot camps.<\/li>\n<li>Other facilities used for conducting indoor group fitness classes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Indoor entertainment and recreation venues where food and drinks are served<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Movie theaters.<\/li>\n<li>Music and concert venues.<\/li>\n<li>Live performance venues.<\/li>\n<li>Adult entertainment venues.<\/li>\n<li>Commercial event and party venues.<\/li>\n<li>Sports arenas.<\/li>\n<li>Performing arts theaters.<\/li>\n<li>Bowling alleys.<\/li>\n<li>Arcades.<\/li>\n<li>Card rooms.<\/li>\n<li>Family entertainment centers.<\/li>\n<li>Play areas.<\/li>\n<li>Pool and billiard halls.<\/li>\n<li>Other recreational game centers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>However, there are a indoor places that are exempt from this.
