We&#8217;ve got this one.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brewersassociation.org\/insights\/brewery-growth-both-urban-and-rural\/\">Brewers Association<\/a> released a study on Monday with findings that Chicago is home to more breweries than any other city in the United States, making us the new beer capital of America, thankyouverymuch.<\/p>\n<p>Chicago houses a whopping 167 <a href=\"https:\/\/urbanmatter.com\/chicago\/breweries-chicago\/\">breweries<\/a> as of the end of 2018, collecting over 100 since the study was last completed in 2013. Right behind Chicago was Denver, who snuck up from fourth place with 158 breweries, and then Seattle with 153, San Diego with 150, and L.A. with 146.<\/p>\n<p>The study shows that breweries throughout the Chicagoland area, stretching all the way to Aurora, Joliet, up through Wisconsin and including Northwest Indiana, were all counted in the final roundup. This is because\u00a0of Brewers Association chief economist Bart Watson&#8217;s decision to include the\u00a0Census Bureau&#8217;s standard for &#8220;urbanized areas,&#8221; which means regions of 50,000 people or more,\u00a0and &#8220;clusters&#8221;, between\u00a02,500\u00a0and 50,000 people. Every other top city was also measured by this standard.<\/p>\n<p>Seattle and\u00a0Portland were the top two in the last study, leaving us a nice, long, five-year stretch to catch up from fifth place.
