Doyle joined Glenn Danzig, Jerry Only, and crew in 1980 as a teenager, sticking around through the group&#8217;s first breakup in 1983. A Jerry Only-led Misfits regrouped in 1995, with Doyle notably co-writing the music on 1997&#8217;s\u00a0<em>American Psycho<\/em>\u00a0and 1999&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Famous Monsters<\/em> studio albums.<\/p>\n<p>The New Jersey native\u00a0has remained active as a solo artist over the years, and his latest album is last year&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Doyle-II-As-We-Die\/dp\/B06WWHBN9S\"><em>Doyle II: As We Die<\/em><\/a>. A proper full band album, like 2013&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Abominator<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Doyle II:\u00a0<\/em><em>As We Die<\/em>\u00a0was primarily written by Doyle and vocalist Alex Story.\u00a0Doyle and crew are currently in the midst of a cross-country U.S. tour \u2014 which kicked off in Hartford, Connecticut\u00a0in early October \u2014\u00a0that is set to\u00a0run through early January 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond his musical output, which has inspired members of Metallica, Guns N&#8217; Roses, Alkaline Trio, and many other major punk and metal artists, Doyle is known for his impressive physique. He largely credits this to his vegan lifestyle, which\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.villagevoice.com\/2015\/05\/04\/sex-knives-and-veganism-ten-things-you-didnt-know-about-doyle-from-the-misfits\/\">girlfriend Alissa White-Gluz of Arch Enemy<\/a> turned him onto.<\/p>\n<p>While he was in Michigan for a tour stop, I had the pleasure of interviewing Doyle by phone. Doyle may not be a man of many words \u2014\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportskeeda.com\/pro-wrestling\/doyle-wolfgang-von-frankenstein-on-the-as-we-die-album-being-vegan-sports-wcw\">as also learned from a prior in-person interview experience in New York<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 but his directness is refreshing in a way. I remember walking down the street, I had to go take a shit in a hotel. I walked back from soundcheck and there was a <a href=\"https:\/\/urbanmatter.com\/chicago\/rat-capital-america\/\" target=\"_blank\">giant rat<\/a> in the street, walking down in the gutter, about the size of a raccoon. Nobody even looked at it. I was like, &#8220;Can anybody see that fucking thing?&#8221; So that&#8217;s what I remember.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Was that in the 80s? When you were touring with The Misfits?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Yeah.<\/p>\n<p><strong>When it comes to eating in certain cities, I&#8217;d imagine it&#8217;s easier for you to eat in bigger cities. Are there any restaurants you especially like in Chicago?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve only been to Chicago Diner. I went there, my plane got delayed and I had to stay a little longer, so I went to the Chicago Diner. I tried three main courses, three shakes, ice cream&#8230; I ate so much. The guy came up to me, the waiter, and he was like, &#8220;I&#8217;ve never seen somebody eat so much food in my life.&#8221; (laughs)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Is that a normal occurrence for you when you go out, ordering multiple entrees?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I think that&#8217;s normal for vegans. To go to a restaurant, we want to try everything, ordering too much food.<\/p>\n<p><strong>When you&#8217;re on the road, do you usually do your eating at the venue? Or do you usually like to take a buy-out so you can eat elsewhere?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Whatever they&#8217;re doing, that&#8217;s what we do.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Another thing that&#8217;s very interesting is that your dog Trixi-Lu has an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/trixilu\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\">Instagram<\/a> account. Who came up with the idea to start that account?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Her dad [Doyle singer] Alex [Story], it&#8217;s his dog.<\/p>\n<p><strong>I thought it was your dog based on how many photos there are of you holding the dog.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>She&#8217;s sleeping on me right now.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Do you yourself have any pets?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I share a cat with Alissa.<\/p>\n<p><strong>And that cat&#8217;s in Canada? Or it&#8217;s on the road with her?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We can&#8217;t bring a cat on the road, he&#8217;s in Canada.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1278\" height=\"719\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/0QmVfiLmCfo?start=51&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Speaking of Alissa, I heard that you are working on an album for her.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>No, she&#8217;s working on her own album. I just wrote a couple compositions for her to write vocal melodies on. Whether she uses them or not, that&#8217;s up to her and the producers, I guess.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Is that the first time you have written for another artist?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I would say yes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>After writing for her, do you hope to write for other artists?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If they&#8217;re fucking huge and I can make a shitload of money doing it, yeah. (laughs) Otherwise, not really, no. (laughs)<\/p>\n<p><strong>I appreciate the honest answer there. I really like the latest album from your band, Doyle. Is there a third one in the works?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Of course, yeah.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Are the songs written for that next album?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Most of it is, yeah.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Do you have a timeline of when we might see another album from Doyle?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t, you know? I want to tour this one for a little bit, then we&#8217;ll get the other one out.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What about guitar strings? I don&#8217;t know where else there is.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Antarctica?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>No.<\/p>\n<p><strong>As a big fan of <em>Creature From the Black Lagoon<\/em>, I&#8217;m surprised that you didn&#8217;t say anything about Transylvania.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We actually had a show there but the tour fell apart. The bus broke down and we couldn&#8217;t make it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Did I miss any of your current projects? Is there anything else you are currently working on?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m gonna be playing with Metal Allegiance in January at the NAMM show with Alissa.
