The sun is out, flowers are blooming, windows are down, and music is blaring. This could only mean one thing: Music Festival Season. Coachella<\/a> has already kicked off April with incredible show performances from artists like Lady Gaga, Bon Iver, Future, and Kendrick Lamar. Migos’ hit song “Bad and Boujee” had a kid dancing with Odell Beckham. On top of the great performances, celeb appearances and the production of lights and other visual effects will leave those who attended in awe for weeks to come. With all these great features, one would assume Coachella<\/a> takes the cake for the best music festival. WRONG.<\/p>\n

There’s one music festival worth experiencing that trumps Coachella, and that’s Lollapalooza<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Lollapalooza<\/a> is better than Coachella for many reasons. Comparatively, both festivals will be sure to have your favorite artists, incredible performances, dancing, food, and opportunities to meet new people. So, what makes Lollapalooza so much better? Sure, being Chicagoans, we admit we’re biased. But check out our four purely objective reasons why we still think it’s better.<\/p>\n

1: The Commute.<\/h3>\n

+ <\/strong>Lollapalooza is located in the heart of downtown Chicago at Grant Park. For people flying in for this festival, that’s only a 30-minute commute away from the airport.<\/p>\n

–\u00a0<\/strong>Coachella is over 2 hours away from the closest airport.<\/p>\n

2: The Location.<\/h3>\n

+<\/strong> Chicago is a vacation destination that’s worth exploring. With the festival being located in Grant Park, you\u2019ll never be bored before or after the shows are over. If you have a couple of hours before your favorite artist comes on, go explore the city. Get a deep-dish pizza, go see some historic Chicago art, take a quick red line trip to Wrigleyville, walk the lakefront, take a river tour, or even walk the Magnificent Mile. Opportunities are endless in Summertime Chi.<\/p>\n

– Coachella is located in the middle of nowhere. In a desert. If you’re bored or want to explore, there’s a pretty beat up Walmart just around the corner.<\/p>\n

3: Sleeping Arrangements.<\/h3>\n

+ <\/strong>Let\u2019s be real, you don\u2019t go to these fests to rest. But, there will be a moment of \u201cI am so done with this\u201d and Chicago has multiple options for lodging. You can always Airbnb, stay at one of many hotels, crash with a friend, or take the Metra to a nearby suburb for a cheaper place to stay.<\/p>\n

–\u00a0<\/strong>If you didn\u2019t get a hotel booked in advance or don\u2019t own a trailer to sleep in. Looks like there are a couple of options for you. Sleeping in your car or hopefully finding someone to shelter you for the night. And there’s nothing worse than camping out and roughing it after of a full day of substance use.<\/p>\n

4:\u00a0After Parties.<\/h3>\n

+ <\/strong>You\u2019re in Chicago, so it’s a guarantee that if you stay active on Twitter, one of your favorite\u00a0artists will announce an after party at a sweet club, bar, or hotel in the city. So, turn your notifications on and wait, there will be about 20 different bars\/clubs holding events after each night of the fest.<\/p>\n

–\u00a0<\/strong>Coachella does have some pretty lit<\/em> after parties, but the endless options for continuing your night of reckless activities is in Chicago.<\/p>\n

Overall, both festivals will be sure to rock your world, but when it comes to deciding where to blow your next couple of paychecks, pick Lolla.<\/p>\n
