Ending September 7, 2020<\/b><\/p>\n

In addition to the presentation of New York-based artist Carissa Rodriguez\u2019s film The Maid<\/i>, this artwork exhibit at the Art Institute of Chicago also features a film piece called The Girls<\/i>, as well as the photographic work All the Best Memories Are Hers. <\/i>According to the Art Institute website, these three works are \u201cmetaphors of creation, reproduction, and the passage of time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Malangatana: Mozambique Modern<\/h2>\n

Ending November 16, 2020<\/b><\/p>\n

An exhibit which includes dozens of paintings, this \u201cfirst solo exhibition of a modern African painter at the Art Institute\u201d displays the singular style of Malangatana Ngwenya (known by most as simply Malangatana), highlighting his work from 1959 to 1975.<\/p>\n

Noda Tetsuya: My Life in Print<\/h2>\n

Ending December 6, 2020<\/b><\/p>\n

The My Life in Print <\/i>artwork exhibit at the Art Institute of Chicago includes\u00a0selections from a series of prints created by Japanese artist Nora Tetsuya\u2014 he began in the 60s and has yet to finish the series. The prints, which \u201care created through a unique and multilayered method\u201d developed by Tetsuya, are over 500 in number.<\/p>\n

Adornment: Jewelry of South Asia\u2019s Nomadic Cultures<\/h2>\n

Ending January 9, 2021<\/b><\/p>\n

This collection of \u201cadornments\u201d is more than just lost pairs of earrings and forgotten necklaces. The jewelry of nomadic tribes such as those that roamed Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India in the 19th and early-20th centuries held tremendous meaning in regards to \u201ctribal affiliation, personal wealth, spiritual beliefs, and cultural heritage,\u201d according to the Art Institute website. The pieces here also served a variety of practical functions related to health and wellness.<\/p>\n

Postcommodity: With Each Incentive<\/h2>\n

Postcommodity is an arts collective comprising Crist\u00f3bal Mart\u00ednez and Kade L. Twist, their exhibit for the Art Institute of Chicago\u00a0is just the latest addition to a body of work whose content deals with issues of community destabilization and Indigenous cultural identity. The project, With Each Incentive, <\/i>\u201creimagines the Bluhm Family Terrace as a stage for Chicago\u2019s architectural future and contemplates how it might be transformed by the current way of Indigenous American refugees from Mexico and Central and South America.\u201d<\/p>\n

Audrey has worked in pit orchestras at venues including the Cadillac Palace, Nederlander, CIBC, and Mariott Theatres, and more recently has performed with The Who on their Moving On! Tour in 2019. As the host of her podcast AudPod, she regularly features different folks in the Chicago music community.
