Finally, there is some lake effect snow we can get on board with! Although Lake Effect Brewing Company<\/a> found its home on the northwest side in 2011, they have made some waves recently.<\/p>\n

This month, their retail shop opened. From six-packs to t-shirts to pint glasses to a six-pack of their locally brewed beer, you can get it all in one location. They even offer six-month and year-long growler programs, with monthly refills of a 64-ounce growler plus 10% off their retail shop.<\/p>\n

They also offer tours for you to see how a small local\u00a0brewery runs at their location on Montrose. On Saturdays at 2pm, 3:30pm and 5pm you can see the brewery, bottling area, barrel room, and urban farm on their hour-long tours. You need to be 21, of course, but the tours are free.<\/p>\n

As a small business, the tours are typically smaller and you get a chance to ask all the beer questions you’ve ever had while talking to the employees throughout.<\/p>\n

The brewery is steps from the Montrose Blue Line and the Metra Mayfair stations. If you visit, go around to the side of the building (behind Chicago Costume) to enter.
