And it’s been long overdue. This was one we couldn’t miss for the world, so we made sure to get in on the action.<\/p>\n
Fans rose bright and early to a day of welcoming weather with one goal in mind: to reach the city for the parade which was to begin at 10am at Wrigley Field. Clark Street was customarily flooded with people, and by 10:30am, buses carrying the team drove past Wrigley Field as the entire street roared with pride. As amazing as this was, it was all leading up to the main event.<\/p>\n
With plans to parade down Columbus Drive and to end the festivities with a rally at Grant Park, there were millions who converged in the Loop to catch sight of the winning team, thousands of which probably camped out there overnight. The sight was absolutely incredible, it was Chicago as we’ve never seen it.<\/p>\n
Cars were absent from nearly every street surrounding Grant Park. In their place was a sea of blue and white that seemed to cover the entire city, as far south as Soldier Field and as far north as the John Hancock. Billowing from flagpoles, hanging in windows of every business, and draped over the shoulders of millions of fans was the iconic ‘W’ flag that has symbolized our hope and victory. From all areas, the “Go Cubs Go!” song could be heard.<\/p>\n
After the rally ended, no one was ready to stop the party. The celebrations in the street carried on through the afternoon to late evening. Now that the Cubs finally had their day, it was bigger and better than we could have ever imagined.<\/p>\n
