Having first opened its doors in March of 1930, the Shedd now houses over 32,000 animals from all over the world. In an effort to set themselves apart from other aquariums and zoos, the Shedd is focused almost entirely on conservation and rehabilitation, helping to ensure our favorite waterways and species remain strong.
