Charlie Sheen’s Story: His Autobiography and Netflix Fame
The actor once again tells a story of insanity with his new memoir The Book of Sheen and the Netflix documentary aka Charlie Sheen. The following is to a great extent the moments he had the highest and lowest life defining experiences of his wanderings.
Sheen, however, very much a human, most of the time portrays the image of a cat with eleven lives rather than a regular person. Perhaps it is related to the notorious “tiger blood” that was at the core of his fame.
“I do not quite understand the point I was trying to make,” the 60-year-old, describing his assorted skirmishes with the law and in the media, said to E! News at the Sept. 4 premiere of aka Charlie Sheen, “Honestly, to this day, I haven’t found the solution.”
Previously Encountering the Past and Accepting the Present
Influenced by those years, Sheen acknowledged his breakdown moment: “Not much was left besides maybe a funeral or a wake or something tragic,” he recounted. “That’s the stuff I recall and think, Wow, we could have turned down that a bit.”
Still he does not regret as he refuses to regret. “I am inclined to view us as the aggregate of all our experiences, both the nice ones and the bad ones,” Sheen said. “And if I’m going to be the one to say it, then first I must acknowledge it myself.”
It was this recognition that led him to decide to open up in his autobiography The Book of Sheen, scheduled for release on Sept. 9, and in Netflix’s two-part film aka Charlie Sheen, premiering on Sept. 10.
Telling It Straight from the Survivor Himself
After many years of separation, Charlie Sheen decides to share his life story in his own way.
“In between all that mess, chaos, and carnage, I think enough time passed,” Sheen said when asked about the timing of his memoir and documentary. “At last, I had enough distance to be able to go deep into it—and really for the right reasons.”
The father of five, who has been married three times, emphasized that he didn’t intend to “sensationalize or make something bigger than it was.” ” He, however, said simply letting people know his story directly “from the guy who survived them” was the main purpose of the project.
Notwithstanding, adding every detail was not easy. Sheen confessed to having relied on friends to fill in the gaps of his crazy days with their memory and even used Google to help him keep his 45-year Hollywood career timeline straight while he was writing his book.
Did Charlie Sheen Really Shoot Kelly Preston?
Even now, the incident still generates public interest, notwithstanding that both Sheen and Preston have repeatedly stated that it was not the case.
Quite the opposite, the story is not that Sheen had shot Preston.
“It was an accident Lindsay, an accident,” told Kelly Preston, now dead, to TMZ in 2011, answering that Sheen took a gun out of his pocket, it slipped, and the shot went off.
He himself has always supported her version of events. In 2016 during a tour stop in Vancouver of My Violent Torpedo of Truth, he told the audience that he was making coffee downstairs when he got a gunshot from upstairs.
Preston’s story to Sheen was that her small revolver had come out of her jeans back pocket, hit the floor, and had gone off—hence the bullet had gone into the water closet. She wasn’t hit by the bullet itself, but by fragments of the bullet and shards of the toilet bowl that shattered and flew on impact.
Charlie Sheen Confessed to $50,000 on Escorts Expenditure
Just before the decline of Heidi Fleiss, Hollywood madam, the news broke out that Charlie Sheen was one of her biggest clients.
At the time of the trial, a video of Sheen’s court deposition was shown. As reported by the Los Angeles Times, Sheen stated that he had gone for sex more than 50,000 dollars and that he was on broken escorts through Fleiss 27 times. He further added that he had reached the “Heidi girls” directly for at least 20 more,”
“I am sorry for the embarrassment, if any, to my family, my future wife, my close friends, caused by these incidents,” Sheen stated through his representative. At the time, engaged to Donna Peele, he said, “I don’t justify my actions with anything except the truth, which I detailed in my testimony.” ”They wouldn’t call it ‘the past’ if it wasn’t,”
That September, Sheen married Peele. Their brief marriage, however, was over by 1996.
Charlie Sheen Charged with Assault on Britney Ashland
In December 1996, actress Brittany Ashland sued Charlie Sheen after he violently attacked her at his Los Angeles-area home. Without doubt, Sheen took her by the hair and threw her to the floor, hitting her head and thus becoming unconscious, according to her statement.
Eventually, in June 1997, Sheen went to court and pleaded no contest to misdemeanor battery. The court handed down two years of probation and revoked a one-year suspended jail sentence.
“I think this is very just, and I thank you,” the Hot Shots! actor said at the Malibu Municipal Court Judge Lawrence Mira’s bench after the sentencing. “You will not find me in this court again.”
Martin Sheen’s Intervention: A Father’s Tough Love
After a 1998 overdose, Charlie Sheen’s father stepped in, leading to a court-ordered rehab and a moment of profound betrayal that later became understanding.
In May 1998, a cocaine overdose of Charlie Sheen led to his hospitalization in a hospital, where his father, Martin Sheen, entered the authorities by phone. This breach of probation from 1997 resulted in a drug rehabilitation program for Charlie.
He then clarified to AARP The Magazine how he played the card to save his son: “It was the only way I got him.”
At first, Charlie felt it was “the biggest betrayal you could possibly endure,” as he recounted in a September 2025 Good Morning America interview. He recalled his bodyguard loudly announcing, “The U.S. Marshals are on the way. We’ve got to go in five.”
Nonetheless, the Major League actor eventually recognized his father’s extreme gesture as an expression of love and acknowledged that all his events, both happy and sad, had an impact on him.
Charlie Sheen’s Messy Custody Battle With Denise Richards
Their separation escalated into restraining orders, legal and theatrical disputes, and years of public confrontations.
Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards tied the knot in 2002, and they had two daughters – Sami in 2004 and Lola in 2005. But Richards filed for divorce only three months before Lola was born. Though they had a short-lived reunion, the marriage disintegrated for good in the beginning of 2006.
In her application for a temporary restraining order in April, Richards accused Sheen of having shoved her and threatened to kill her. Sheen refuted the allegations, describing them as a “transparent and immature smear campaign,” but the court ruling made Sheen avoid Richards and their children, with the exception of supervised visits.
They went as far as signing a custody agreement in May, and their divorce was official six months later. Although the two were able to co-parent in a friendly manner later on, their divorce kept getting media attention because of the lawsuit and Sheen’s angry tweets.

He rejected the accusations and termed them a “transparent and immature smear campaign,” but a judge mandated that he stays away from Richards and their kids except during visits with supervision.
By May, the two reached a custody agreement, and six months later a judge finalized their divorce. They were successful in establishing a friendly co-parenting relationship later on although the past legal battles and Sheen’s raucous social media kept their break-up under media glare for a long time.
Charlie Sheen Hospitalized After Plaza Hotel Disturbance
The incident that took place late at night in New York City was another tabloid addition to Sheen’s descent of his public image.
In October 2010, Charlie Sheen was taken to the hospital after police were called to the Plaza Hotel for what their report described as an “emotionally disturbed individual.” Later his rep attributed the incident to “an adverse reaction to medication”.
At that time, Denise Richards and the couple’s daughters were in a different suite, while Capri Anderson, an adult-film actress, was reportedly in Sheen’s room.
Shortly after, Sheen and then-wife Brooke Mueller both submitted their divorce papers on November 1, stating their separation date as the time of their Aspen fight. Their divorce was officially disbanded the following year.
Charlie Sheen Fired From Two and a Half Men
The public fight between him and creator Chuck Lorre became a tale of Hollywood—it cost him the role that made him most famous.
In 2011, the war of words between Sheen and Lorre was the talk of the town. As a result, the actor was fired after seven seasons from the CBS show.
Sheen then filed a $100 million lawsuit against Warner Bros. for wrongful termination. The conflict was resolved with a settlement reportedly worth $25 million in September of that year.
It was around that time when Sheen made his “tiger blood” and “goddesses” speeches that were quickly shared online. But after 10 years, the actor confessed he wasn’t really “#winning” at that time.
“People say to me, ‘Hey, man, that was so cool, that was so fun to watch,’” Sheen told Yahoo! Entertainment in 2021. “I think, ‘Oh, really great. I am very happy that I exchanged early retirement for a f–king hashtag.’”

Not only that but Sheen also admitted to secretly financing those who tried to blackmail him in order to keep quiet about his condition and said that he had given them “so much money that there isn’t any more left for the future.”
He stated that he wanted to “let go of the burden” by going public with his status.

Their relationship was on edge but Charlie thinks that a reunion is still possible.
Actually, by the end of 2024, Sami confided, on Gia Giudice’s Casual Chaos podcast, that not only had they not spoken for a year but they had not even exchanged texts for six months. She explained, “He started sending me some crazy stuff… I’ve had him on my block for a while now. I had to make it clear to him that this wasn’t a game and say ‘Do not contact me again. This is insane.’”
Charlie, when asked about his daughter in September on Good Morning America, responded, “There’s always a shot for a better tomorrow I don’t know exactly what I did, that’s the problem. I’m not quite sure what I’m apologizing for.”
However, he still maintained, “Her and I will work through it. We have done that in the past, we have a history of that, which is too deep to be wiped out by just one moment.”
