Channing Tatum Denies That He Ever Shared His Place with Jax Taylor
The actor responded to Jax’s claim during his interview on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live with a negative reaction.
Jax Taylor was repeatedly stating that Channing Tatum was his first roommate when he moved to New York but on Oct. 6 episode of SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live, Tatum set the record straight. “Absolutely not,” said the 45 year old actor. “I think it is more likely that we weren’t roommated.”
Channing Tatum Denies Ever Rooming with Jax Taylor
Tatum refuted Jax’s statement that they were once roommates during a SiriusXM Andy Cohen Live interview, asserting they hadn’t shared a room.
Channing Tatum outright rejects Jax Taylor’s multiple claims that they used to be roommates. On the Oct. 6 episode of SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live, the 45‑year‑old actor answered, “No way. I don’t think I have ever roommated with him.”
Channing explained that he was in model houses with several roommates during the beginning of his career and even had the unfortunate situation of being kicked out of the first one after a dispute but he definitely said he wasn’t a roommate with Jax. Jax made the first reference to the fake roommate story when he was interviewed on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen in 2013.
The actor states he used to live in model houses — but not with Jax Taylor
Jax remembers cramped 2002 model house bunk beds with Tatum “one of six guys,” but Tatum denies that they ever shared a room.
While talking to Rolling Stone in May 2023, Jax Taylor said modeling agencies around 2002 put new faces in dorm-style apartments with bunk beds — “a tiny room with bunk beds and a bathroom” — and he recalled that Channing was “one of six guys in our room.” Jax went on to say that Tatum soon got a Mountain Dew commercial, “hadn’t got long sheltered, and broke out when he went off.” On the other hand, Tatum told SiriusXM Andy Cohen Live he was not in a shared room with Jax.
The Mountain Dew spot that jump‑started his career
Amanda Bynes lobbied for Tatum to land She’s the Man after seeing the commercial.
In fact, even though Jax might have gotten the roommate detail a bit wrong, he was right in saying that Channing’s 2002 Mountain Dew commercial played a significant role in his breakthrough. Paper magazine reported from Amanda Bynes in 2018 that she “totally fought for Channing [to get cast in] that movie because he wasn’t famous yet,” after seeing the ad – also telling, “This guy’s a star—every girl will love him!” Although the producers were hesitant about his age, Bynes insisted on him and therefore enabled his acting breakthrough to be fast‑tracked.
