Chadwick Aaron Boseman was born November 29, 1976, in Anderson, South Carolina. Growing up in a working-class, Christian environment, Boseman had an early interest in the performing arts. When he was younger, he participated in a church choir. The shooting death of a close friend inspired him to write a play while still in high school. After that, he staged the play and presented it at his high school.
