Damian Robert Nesta Marley: “Jr. Gong” the Legacy

Born on July 21, 1978, Damien Robert Nesta “Jr. Gong” Marley is the son of Bob Marley and jazz singer Cindy Breakspeare with whom he shares the nickname derived from his father’s moniker “Tuff Gong”. Damian started singing at an early age that had him fronting a band called Shephards, by then when he was only thirteen years old. Although this group got disbanded few years later, Damian’s solo career became successful because it all started there.

His maiden album “Mr Marley” was released in 1996 under Tuff Gong label owned by their family which was jointly produced by Stephen Marley, another brother thus signifying collaborations within them.
