Having become most famous for the role of Liz McDonald, Callard had earlier assured fans that the cancer was caught at an early stage. However, she would have to go back to the UK for surgery and radiotherapy because of that.
Callard pointed out that she was going to surgery on Friday at Norfolk and Norwich Hospital in her most recent Instagram update. She said she’s “counting [her] lucky stars” while waiting for the operation, during which she’ll have two lymph nodes taken out.
After a breast cancer diagnosis, lymph nodes are commonly taken out because cancer cells that have spread beyond the breast can be trapped in the underarm area.
