2021: Vaccines, Political Changes, New Perspectives? YMCA Monthly Dialogue

As political changes and COVID vaccine traverse through the U.S., the atmosphere vacillates among apprehension and skepticism and optimism and hope. Some anticipate reaching the other side of COVID-19 through a vaccine while others reject the notion due to beliefs, lack of information, or historical medical abuse. Some anticipate a positive and/or negative impact of changes in administration depending on their political stance. Some wonder if the 2020 experience has ignited new perspectives or if we will revert to “normalcy.” Regardless, we have a lot to process. Join us as we discuss: What are your thoughts and experiences on the COVID vaccine? After enduring 2020, has your perspective changed with regards to disparities, racism, and discrimination? What are you anticipating in the new year?

January Monthly Dialogue, facilitated by Laura Gomez-Horton, YWCA Greater Austin Clinical Director. Monthly Dialogues on issues of racism and discrimination are a place for safe conversation, allowing participants to respectfully share their thoughts, experiences, and information. Monthly dialogues are not a place to spread personal agendas, hatred, negativity, etc. Rather they are a forum for people from all walks of life to come together as a community to create deeper, more holistic understanding of the topic being discussed.

Zoom will be used to facilitate the workshop, it is requested that participants who have access, will utilize their cameras to create a deeper sense of connection. Looking forward to seeing you there!

The event is finished.
